The explanation in detail of the negative feedback from fse10!

eBay don't really give a huge amount of space to respond to feedback do they, especially when the response warrants a whole essay!

Mr Eplett (the rest of his name and address will remain anonymous) otherwise known as fse10 on eBay, did indeed win a 1925 Sydney Sovereign in October. To his credit he paid for it right away, and I posted it via recorded mail to him from my German address. Soon after, I left him positive feedback.

November passed and still no Sovereign turned up with Mr Eplett. So I went way beyond the call of duty and sent another identical coin at my expense (the recorded 1st coin wasn't properly insured). Mr Eplett remained courteous over email and awaited his 2nd coin. I believe the coin was to be a Christmas present, so we were both keen that it should arrive before Christmas. The 2nd coin was sent, this time, fully insured.

Christmas came and went, no coin arrived. So Mr Eplett who remained polite without a hint of being the kind of person to leave un-warranted negative feedback waited patiently while I contacted the post office to find out where on earth both coins were!

On the 17th January the 2nd coin was returned to me, here is a scan of the original envelope that it was returned in, with the address covered up (click it to see a larger version):

As you can see from the writing above the name, delivery was attempted on the 18th December. According to the red sticker the item was not picked up at the post office depot and was returned to me on the 10th January.

I'm not suggesting for a moment that Mr Eplett would deliberately ignore a card from the post office, and it is of course perfectly possible that the postman didn't put one through the door, or Mr Eplett's dog ate it, or it blew away, or whatever.

My last communication with Mr Eplett was the following:

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Dear Mr Eplett,

The 2nd coin came back today, attached is a scan of the envelope (the picture above). It seems they tried to deliver it on the 18th December, but you weren't in. Normally they would have put a card through the door to tell you they had it at the depot.

It was never picked up from the depot and was sent back to me on the 10th January.

The first was not properly insured, I just sent it recorded as that has always been fine in the past. So I'll get about £16 back for the first one and luckily I have the actual coin back from the second attempt.

Is it ok if I just send you a refund? I really don't want to go through it all again.

Thanks,

Chris

I got no reply to that email, which was sent on the 18th January, and on the 20th January, he left this negative feedback:

DO NOT DEAL WITH THIS EBAYER PAID AT THE END OF AUC 24 OCT STILL WEIGHTING CRAP

It's frustrating isn't it, when something you've paid for doesn't turn up, especially when it happens twice! (it's just as frustrating for the sender!). But if you'd just communicate with me Mr Eplett I would have sorted it all out even if it had taken until next Christmas! I take negative feedback very seriously, it's like a stain on my almost pure white character!

You'll be 'Weighting' a long time for that refund unless you appologise and get eBay to remove that ridiculous negative feedback!

I don't like to go on about silly things like this, there are people in the world a lot worse off than Mr Eplett and I. But it just really got on my nerves and I wrote this in an emotional state as soon as I saw the negative feedback! Grrr
