Richard John Marles, founder of the print works that became Rotographic, author of the first Check Your Change and the Collector's Coins series (among others) passed away last year aged 87. My suspicions were raised when the complimentary new books I send him each year, and posted last week, were returned by the Post Office. I have since spoken to his long term business partner in Torquay and he confirmed his passing. I'll add a permanent memorial page to the Rotographic website. Richard's books helped millions and inspired thousands of people to get into coin collecting and I'll always be grateful to him for building up Rotographic and giving me the opportunity to carry on his work.

That 1906 penny just looks wrong. Like a 50yr old who's had plastic surgery to look like a 30 yr old.

This might be due to ebay's default settings. When you can get a refund through paypal for items 'not as described' as a right, it isn't a great leap forward to set the default to 'returns accepted' or even do away with the option. The cost of exposure on foreign ebay sites is a good reason for restricting to uk only, even if you are willing to sell abroad.

Hi Nicholas The wonderful enjoyment of collecting is we start of by understanding specific guide lines, then when we find wonderful pieces the guidelines have not changed only we know we are the proud keeper of such a piece or pieces for future generations GC
