Hello everybody! First, sorry for my poor English, I'm from the Netherlands so please be gentle... In my collection I have some Model 1 penny's in a very good state. Today I was looking at them when 1 coin looked strange. The coin has an extra letter E in the word "penny". I can not find any information about it. Has anybody got more information? Sorry for the poor pics, just made them with an Iphone... Best regards, The Dutch guy. Ps: I could not find a space to introducé museale properly so of anybody wants more info, shoot!

Criteria depend on which hat I'm wearing. For the collection, firstly does it tick a box? Second depends on the eye appeal and if a well documented series, does the example in question feature high on the list in terms of quality in comparison to other available pieces? Or if not previously known to me, is it comparable? I like to make purchases with a view to never requiring an upgrade. For the business there is only one criteria - do I think I can make money on it?

Well look at that... I paid 16 euro for 2 of those penny's. Only one with the extra E. Whas that a good deal? How rare would you call this specific coin? Those penny's are not the coins I normally buy but they looked very interesting to me. Best regards, Hi dutchgreener. Yes i think we can say that was a good deal. Well done and welcome to the forum.

Hi Andriulis, The best way to tell the difference is a very slight difference in the pointing of the A in GRA Spink 4021 covers Obv 1 and Obv 2 Spink 4021A is Obv 3 Obv 1: A at a bead Obv 2: A between beads Obv 3: A is just to the right of a bead There's also two reverses for the 1920 halfcrown: Rev A: Raised edge to garter above F, no pocket above C Rev B: Plain edge to garter above F, pocket above C The possible combinations, by Davies number, are: 1+A, D.1672 (commonest) 1+B, D.1673 (scarce) 2+A, D.1674 (scarcest) 3+A, D.1675 (common) 3+B, D.1676 (scarce) In addition, Peter Davies has added a D.1675B, which is a modified Obv 3, characterised by a thicker rim, with tiny beads rather than small teeth. It's probably scarcer than any of the previously documented coins. Sorry it's not photos, but hope that helps Declan : )
