Those Colin Cooke pennies are on the cover of the catalogue, in colour, which can be downloaded as a PDF from their website if anyone hasn't seen it already. They look lovely to me, which is easy to say as they are completely out of my league! Hope they find good homes.

A couple of newbies. I need to work on my photographs as they do the coins no justice: A 1913 Halfcrown has proved to be a pain in the bum to find: This one is courtesy of Rob and is my first early milled/pre 1816 example:

Building up quite a nice collection Frank! Keep 'em coming, I'm sure there's plenty of people who are breathing a sigh of relief that they're not pennies

The pictures of the individual coins aren't on the website, but the PDF for the January list can be downloaded from the homepage. http://www.colincooke.com/download/Cooke-List-January-2016-full.pdf

Not bad I reckon. I have a 1915, a 1930 and a 1945 but no others of the period you're currently collecting. Mine were all from dealers.

I think you're right there, it's probably also a feature better used on forums of a different nature - because it's a pre defined layout that comes with whoever provides the forum it's there when you buy it from them. As above, there should probably be a warning message saying its viewable by all!

Expensive for sure, but Neil Paisley will usually start reducing the price or offering on e bay if they don't shift fairly quickly. So watch this space. No worries, Matt. It's the sort of thing I would also do. Yes, where they paid £3000 + 17% commission, so £3510 in total. £1k profit if they sell at that price

It would be interesting to find out. But I also wonder whether banks would accept these coins if it wasn't for some people taking it to a ridiculous extreme by trying to cash in tens of thousands of pounds in one go.

No not really as it's still the same topic of which there is yet another plus we already have an aquisition of the week thread, so in essence a double thread which is really not required. it looks like it's bordering on the ridiculous now.....

I will kick it off with the first 'varietal' buy for me, so my second example of one year but with a different die pairing - 1921 Freeman 190, dies 2 + B.

I think the guidelines are very tricky and confusing, and I can understand why the guy in this case was taken in. Most people (the proverbial man on the Clapham omnibus) would quite reasonably assume that "legal tender" always had its popularly perceived definition of currency/notes, acceptable in payment for goods and services. Seems this is not quite the case. Legal Tender

Hi Matt, it's a simple cheap desk lamp like this: http://www.amazon.co.uk/Lloytron-L961BK-Flexi-Desk-Black/dp/B002TLC3EY/ref=sr_1_7?ie=UTF8&qid=1452511686&sr=8-7&keywords=desk+lamp The rest of the room is lit by daylight through the windows, or a ceiling lamp, it doesn't seem to make any difference. Hope that helps
