You'll be fine with anything listed as greater than 99.5% purity - that will be the minimum specification, and wont leave any residue. AR grade - 100% pure for analytical purposes is unlikely to be listed on eBay and is way over the top for our usage

Bill is actually a really fair minded guy, very articulate with his responses. He came onto The Forum about 18 months ago and took every shot everyone on here gave him and replied to mostly everything we wrote which ended up with 15 Pages. hopefully he took some of the concerns back to CGS, but i have only admiration for sticking to his principles and explaining his Point of view in The manner he did in The Face of so much shit by so many on here.

@mrbadexamplelike you I have recently had an urge to acquire a decent Viccy copper penny example, and a halfpenny I now have this penny (which ticks all my boxes), and am considering a halfpenny from the same seller Please let me know if this is the kind of example you are after

Well done. I watched that too, thinking it might be reverse I. But in the end, decided I wasnt sure. My loss, your gain, as it is one I need, the only other 1874 being F77. A guy at the Midland fair had a couple of F77 in fine-ish, correctly id'd at a ton and a half. Too much I think, to fill the gap. Jerry

I regularly scan dealer's pages, auctions and e bay, Jon. I'll keep a sharp look out for a decent pre 1860 copper halfpenny/penny at a reasonable price for you, and report back if I see one.

Just going back to the emboldened part of your post, Jon, I did feel honour bound to point out to the seller that he had perhaps unwittingly offloaded a very rare coin, and I received this very gracious reply from him:-
