    As you say a piece of social history. I hope it gave the poor bugger who was holding it in the bottom of a muddy trench some comfort. I also hope he survived and went on to live a long life.

    Good lord and there's me just thinking I would slab a coin to see if it fetches more when I put it in auction....and all along , according to those people on the high moral ground here , what I am is just an uneducated collector of 40 years....well, slap my thighs and paint me pink Blackadder....

    Nice slabbed 1858 halfpenny sorted thanks Chingford. Got an 1855 penny and halfpenny too, lower grade, to play with.

    I would beg to differ that halfcrown is an attractive good fine for me , sorry could not grade that plain fine , I dont really see that it GF for me

    Bill is actually a really fair minded guy, very articulate with his responses. He came onto The Forum about 18 months ago and took every shot everyone on here gave him and replied to mostly everything we wrote which ended up with 15 Pages. hopefully he took some of the concerns back to CGS, but i have only admiration for sticking to his principles and explaining his Point of view in The manner he did in The Face of so much shit by so many on here.

    Maybe nothing major but something I have been looking for for quite some time. The 1944 Obv 2 Rev C*, a lot harder to get than I intitially thought especially in top condition! Photo taken on my phone so not as clear and crisp as I would like.
