I have been relatively quiet this year so far with purchases, but I did pick up a new Queen Victoria silver medal this week. Of the 90+ silver medals commemorating the Diamond Jubilee and indexed in Laurence Brown's British Historical Medals, this is one of only 3 listed as RR (very rare, approximate mintage of 30-50 pieces). The relief on this medal in hand is just unreal -- I have no idea how many blows were required to strike it up fully on a medal press, but it is impressive. This is indexed by Brown as BHM-3535, and is indexed by Whittlestone & Ewing as #3062.

Hi GaryD Brass 3D are a greatly overlooked denomination. They are a beautiful little coin with an interesting history. As far as I know there are 44 different variations of the Brass 3D but after finding out there are 60 variations of the Edward VII Pennie on this site yesterday when I had firmly believed there were on 26 variations. Are there more than 44 variations of the Brass 3D ? ? ? I would appreciate the opportunity to discuss Brass 3D's with you and I would also like a Brass 3D section if that could be arranged with the site controllers. Would if be possible to see your Brass 3D collections ? You can see mine on the CGS site under The Coinery and TC Coins. This is quite exciting as you are he only other Brass 3D collector I know. I look forward to hearing from you. Hi Guy, The 3d is only a small part of my collection but I do have an affinity with the often overlooked little sucker. I put a little pamplet together in the stile of Peck 10 years ago for my own interest, was it 10 years ago, doesn't seem possible. I recon the count is nearer 75 if you include the proof. Scarce coins those. Good job Dave. Picked this coin up this afternoon. It's got nice mirror like obverse. Some hairlines on the portrait but will fetch at least a MS62RB through PCGS. The coin is available for a swap (identical grade and identical Freeman rarity). Sorry I should have said available for swap after it returns from PCGS.

My new Seaby envelope from the 50's arrived today and this Anne crown came with it. This is the dealer image. The reverse image does not show the toning as it is dark, and the dealer looks to have used a bright light for the pic. I really need to buy a camera. Can any coinaholic out there tell me how to not spend camera money on a coin ? Have a good weekend everyone

http://www.zerohedge.com/news/2016-03-03/its-official-moment-canada-has-no-gold-reserves-left It's an interesting trend. Central banks have been artificially suppressing the market price of gold for over four years. A step away from gold by sovereign states would allow the market to float free, and almost certainly rise. Cui bono?
