Has anyone else been watching the new season/series of this BBC 2 comedy? In last night's episode, 2 references were made to a 'copper penny', although I don't think such a coin would have been circulating in England at the time (Elizabeth I to James I) - is that right?

Got a response from the seller and after a brief exchange of messages I was thanked for "educating" them about reproduction Lizzie coins with this mark, and also an undertaking that the listing will be edited to reflect the fact that it is not genuine. Don't know whether that has happened yet.

? Lol. I thought when i saw the description perhaps it was a foreigner. Definitely pigeon engrish. Well at least he's understood what you've all said to him. Nice job again.

He said, quote: "do not be false I'm portuguese with english family if you want promenor of the product contact thank you for the moment not to be at home" - What that means is anyone's guess!

Just got a message back from him - he's Portuguese but his English is gobbledygook (better than my Portuguese though). I think he might be genuinely unaware it's a fake.

Could be. He seems to know its details & spink number. Seems to have done the trick guys....its gone..ended ?

And me. I've sent a message to the seller too as this one may be a genuine case of not knowing.

If we all sing from the same hymn sheet we might get some results!

Yippee! This means I've got enough of these (that I collected on my paper round as a kid) to buy a new house!

Reported as well. I also messaged the seller and got the cliché'd response that they know nothing about coins and that this one was found in an old box, etc., etc., yawn, yawn. They also asked about the heart mark that I'd previously alluded to in my first message, so we wait and see if it is pulled.

I am rather suspicious with it as the seller couldn't give a decent description. It's a Scotland Charles I 30 shillings, Falconer's issue. Instead it's described as a "17 century Great Britain half crown". Besides he has got three feedbacks from people complaining about fakes / possible fakes. I think the price of £390 is high even if the coin is genuine. This Falconer's issue was milled rather than hammered and so do generally show more details.

    Another monumental piss take

On first inspection it does look ok (I'm no expert though). It me be that he is bidding it up till he gets a high enough price ,and hasn't reached it yet .
