Hi All I will be demonstrating the manufacture of Hammered coins at the York Fair this Friday/sat and offering free identification of hammered coins. Look for me in the entrance lobby

Not the prettiest by a long shot, but liked the provenance and accompanying tickets! Arthur M. Fitts III Collection. Ex Seaby Coin & Medal Bulletin 437 (October 1954), no. G1465. (includes the Seaby paper flip, and ticket in the hand of Bert Seaby [Eaglen D22A]). Still can’t decide on whether it’s a keeper or seller, the jury is still out!

I do something very similar - I take high quality pics with a digital SLR and macro lens, store them on my PC and on ONEdrive (cloud) whilst keeping a duplicate set of pics reduced in size by 60% using Photostudio (from 2 or 3 megabytes to <500 Kb) on both for uploading to here or websites.

Just out of curiosity, I had a look at Company House, which is a government website. It appears that CGS has only just applied to have itself struck off and will be dissolved in two months time. Technically, it is still active at the moment. https://beta.companieshouse.gov.uk/company/05485615/filing-history As far as one can tell, LCGS is not a company but is simply a department of London Coins. Not that any of this actually matters but I thought I would share it anyway.

Although I would dearly love to Stu, I'd better stick to my hammered pennies - or I'll end up with another sub-branch of collecting I must attempt to stay within my collecting budget or it will be beans on toast for the rest of the month!

I feel your pain, Descartes, I can barely bring myself to look at my silver farthings! i’m very much a 2x2 coin flip fan, so if you find a solution please do post!

You could try with the plastic capsule for the 1 euro cent coin. They have a 16.5mm diameter. As example http://www.masterphil.it/products/506-capsule.aspx

You see there are prettier, that’s the problem!

I did enjoy that moment too, and am looking forward to my own tour on Saturday. I shall expect to see 140k of Cupro-Nickel and a machine equipped for striking considerably less than a sovereign though

By US standards, this has the details of an EF45 minimum. If the surfaces are not hairlines or negatively impacted from an enhancement, it should straight grade. Good luck if you submit it and if you choose to do so, post the grade so we can see how this turned out.

What are the actual sizes of the coins in question. That would help and I will do a search for you if that helps.

Yes, the link I posted has self-adhesive type too.

I use the Quadrum capsules for my coins which go down to 14mm, they're the same size as the card holders but a lot thicker

I remember you could get plastic-lined card holders which were punched with a central hole to suit the size of coin you have. You then stapled the holder closed after folding the card over the coin. I don't know if they're still available but Windsor Coins used them extensively at one time.
