Until recently little is known that the author of Sherlock Holmes, Sir Arthur Conan Doyle is an avid coin collector. Reading some of the articles here http://fourthgarrideb.com/2014/10/05/holmework-assignment-arthur-conan-doyles-coin-collection/ it appears at one time ACD collected Anglo Saxon to Charles II but auction the lot in 1913 at Sotherby because he decide to devote exclusively to ancient Greek and Roman coins. His collection of ancients were eventually broken up and sold by Manfra in 1968. I suspect coins with tickets with ACD writings would command a premium. Here is a tray from a cabinet that belong to ACD

My latest target, and a month to organise the funds...however, is it a 3d as described? I’m wondering whether it might actually be 3g? unusual in that it had wedge contractions. Hopefully this will cover off my Bristol mint. I wonder whether it’ll do that silly $525 dollar thing? Hopefully not, though I’m up for it, a lovely coin!

I sold off 9 or 10 spare wrestling ones, but if I come across another I'll know who needs it

No, it goes to show that there is a new generation of people desperately hoping to make a quick buck.

Given the 20k+ queue of peeps looking at the site today, I'm not expecting any major value to be attributable to them. Of course 90 million will turn up on fleabay listed as "Rare"...

Nice coin Stu! Good luck with that one! Here's a lovely Edward I penny I bought today (Canterbury mint). I'm thinking it's a 2a or 2b, but it's a bonus as I wanted a nice Canterbury!

I suspect you might not be the only one thinking that. I predict A, E, I & O will be relatively rare in circulation, but at least it means a healthy supply of obverse unifaces for the error collector. Just noticed that this is my 10000th post

There were coins mostly of nothing grades like fine and good fine with the obligatory 1966 and 67 pennies. I bid for the lot as I was willing to get stuck with more dross as the 1887 half-crown would of been worth it along with a few other coins. But that's not the point. The point is the deception. I wouldn't do it so nobody else should do it. tell me the bloody coins been polished to death in the description I still have the choice knowing the exact state of the coins weather I am going to bid. He is on the blacklist and will not be getting any business from me in the future. Just the fact that it really feels like everyone and his granny is a thief or a scammer. I used to just deal with a few international guys who were great but sadly no longer with us and the crap I see being peddled by so called reputable dealers is just laughable.

They at ‘Boy Bishop’ tokens, mediaeval lead alloy. Not uncommon, lots of varieties and are collectable. Lots of info online. Jerry
