This just made me laugh... I really don't know how you can tell what it is. It is only 99p though. lol. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/James-I-Silver-Hammered-Half-Groat-Love-Token-With-Centred-Hole/152931223980?hash=item239b6949ac:g:l3oAAOSwor1aZGO6

There's a reason for that. Just spend it.

I don't think it's a button Dave, I can see a bust on the second picture and I'm sure I've seen something like this before somewhere.

Definitely, the result of multiple die clashes.

Interesting. The NGC picture of the coin does not seem to show as much frosting effect as the Ebay listed picture. Also NGC records normal and Proof strikes for 1922, but no Proof-like restrikes. Don't know where that leaves this coin!

I really like that, although I do find the lion's face a bit disconcerting. Not very leonine, is it?

First, one of a number of patterns struck in conjunction with Victoria's Golden Jubilee in 1887. A sixpence by Spink / Thomas, ESC 1783. Second, a 1697 E over Y sixpence.

My latest target, and a month to organise the funds...however, is it a 3d as described? I’m wondering whether it might actually be 3g? unusual in that it had wedge contractions. Hopefully this will cover off my Bristol mint. I wonder whether it’ll do that silly $525 dollar thing? Hopefully not, though I’m up for it, a lovely coin!

Very pleased to add this John 5C to the folder. The Douglas Bayern collection, whoever he happens to be? think I’ll add it to penny acquisition and latest acquisition too! I’m that pleased!
