1 pointGermany, Austria and Italy are stood together in the middle of the pub, when Serbia bumps into Austria, and spills Austria’s pint. Austria demands Serbia buy it a complete new suit, because there are splashes on its trouser leg. Germany expresses its support for Austria’s point of view. Britain recommends that everyone calm down a bit. Serbia points out that it can’t afford a whole suit, but offers to pay for cleaning Austria’s trousers. Russia and Serbia look at Austria. Austria asks Serbia who it’s looking at. Russia suggests that Austria should leave its little brother alone. Austria inquires as to whose army will assist Russia in compelling it to do so. Germany appeals to Britain that France has been looking at it, and that this is sufficiently out of order that Britain should not intervene. Britain replies that France can look at who it wants to, that Britain is looking at Germany too, and what is Germany going to do about it? Germany tells Russia to stop looking at Austria, or Germany will render Russia incapable of such action. Britain and France ask Germany whether it’s looking at Belgium. Turkey and Germany go off into a corner and whisper. When they come back, Turkey makes a show of not looking at anyone. Germany rolls up its sleeves, looks at France, and punches Belgium. France and Britain punch Germany. Austria punches Russia. Germany punches Britain and France with one hand and Russia with the other. Russia throws a punch at Germany, but misses and nearly falls over. Japan calls over from the other side of the room that it’s on Britain’s side, but stays there. Italy surprises everyone by punching Austria. Australia punches Turkey, and gets punched back. There are no hard feelings, because Britain made Australia do it. France gets thrown through a plate glass window, but gets back up and carries on fighting. Russia gets thrown through another one, gets knocked out, suffers brain damage, and wakes up with a complete personality change. Italy throws a punch at Austria and misses, but Austria falls over anyway. Italy raises both fists in the air and runs round the room chanting. America waits till Germany is about to fall over from sustained punching from Britain and France, then walks over and smashes it with a barstool, then pretends it won the fight all by itself. By now all the chairs are broken, and the big mirror over the bar is shattered. Britain, France and America agree that Germany threw the first punch, so the whole thing is Germany’s fault . While Germany is still unconscious, they go through its pockets, steal its wallet, and buy drinks for all their friends. And when Germany wakes up, it goes out to its car, gets the gun out of the glovebox and heads back inside...

1 pointA little bit of practice on exposure and aperture and I think you'll have it nailed

1 pointJust been messing with it and in the dark with 2 mini floodlights. I think the result is much better top picture is normal and bottom is what i just took . Only thing is the coin is the colour of the top set but it looks like the bottom set in its detail as in you can see the patina rather than a stain look. i'll just keep at it lol.

1 pointMost auto modes will pick a spot to focus on and shoot, where you may focus at random on any given high or low spot - probably not even centered. if you shoot manual and set up your focus point and manually focus,. then you 'll get sharp

1 pointI was generalising . I still wouldn't be able to get close ups crystal clear. But I am just a humble point and click guy . I don't know anything about photography other than the click button. But when I have asked in many forums about why my pics lack the fine detail that is crystal clear I am always told to get an SLR . Probably still wouldn't aid me unless I invested time in learning about photography. I tend to stick to the auto program . I don't have the time or the state of well being to read anything longer than a sentence such is the effects of narcolepsy . As soon as I start to concentrate on one particular thing I end up in the land of nod lol. So variety checking is somewhat hazardous at best . I wouldn't knock anyone's set up I don't qualify in the knowledge department my comment was purely based on what I have been told. Not that it really answered my question. Like why? People who know things on a subject matter and I am guilty myself we seem to think that everyone will know what we are talking about. All fine and dandy if that subject floats your boat too. But if you are a complete novice even the terminology used backs me off asking anything else in fear of looking like a complete simpleton . I just wished my camera pics were better than my digi-scope pics. I paid a few bob for the camera although granted it isn't a market leader. It has super macro settings so I just surmised we are good to go. Sadly that couldn't be farther from the truth. So it's in it's bag and probably stay there for eternity Richard

1 pointThe denarius (silver) was replaced by the antoninianus (various degrees of silver wash; valued at 2 denarii) and ultimately with the follis which was 100% bronze. The antoninianus was introduced by Caracalla so that is what it could well be.
-
1 pointI hope you're being generic! Otherwise I'll take that remark with a mighty pinch of salt. A mirrorless ILC is every bit as good as a DSLR, and even a serious enthusiast FLZ (like the Sony RX100 series, Lumix LX10/100, the Canon equivalent, etc) will do a great job, having both good DOF, low noise at high ISO, and fast lenses.

1 pointAh yes- so difficult to recall favourites- (such a strange concept there...) Early Joni Mitchell!!!!! I bought Rubycon on cd last year. Orb- I played "Towers of Dub" to a friend of mine who loves Reggae- he'd never heard it and couldn't believe what he was hearing.....everyone should have Victor Lewis-Smith and a dog on their album...
-
1 pointYes I keep thinking of things I have missed off - 10cc is definitely one, the How Dare You album is my favourite. Then there is Joni Mitchell and Joan Baez (Diamonds and Rust track appeals to me particularly at the moment). If, like me, you enjoy Tangerine Dream and the obcurer Pink Floyd you may find The Orb enjoyable - space age prog weirdness.

1 pointI looked at both PCGS and NGC and chose to go with the latter. I just has a better feeling about them. Overall, I have found their grading to be strict but fair and that has made me much more careful about my purchases. I think the differential with regard to auction prices mainly applies to US coins and, there, I think that PCGS has a stronger presence amongst dealers which helps push prices. I'm not sure that there is much of a differential for non-US coins. At least I haven't noticed it. The NGC vs PVGS discussion is one of those 'wars of religion' that never finds a conclusion. In reality, both grading companies are very reliable, quite consistent and extremely professional. They do, however, grade to their own proprietary standards. I followed an online discussion on this subject and a very reputable US dealer commented: "In my observation and experience, NGC started to award higher grades to coins with original surfaces where the surfaces were devoid of marks, hits, scrapes, etc... whereas PCGS started to award higher grades to coins with great luster or extremely attractive toning. Over time, this started to weight the pools of coins seen in NGC and PCGS holders so that high grade, valuable coins in NGC holders were more likely to have muted surfaces or neutral-to-unattractive toning while coins from this same niche in PCGS holders were more likely to have good luster, cool toning and better arm's length eye appeal. Obviously, this was not universal and did not happen overnight, but I would think that by 1995-1997 there was a clear distinction between the pools of coins graded by the services that were available at auction or on the bourse. In my opinion, the early decisions by PCGS and NGC ended up harming NGC while helping PCGS establish a firm hold on the top spot in the eyes of many folks."

1 pointJust started playing them again. The early 10cc stuff is so well recorded, too... I had to look in iTunes under 'recently played' to find out what I've liked lately!!

1 pointA dedicated NGC submission centre opens in the UK later in may if you can hold out a month

1 pointIMO a very collectable coin , more so than a constantine bronze anyway , there are hundreds of millions of them around

1 pointTo photograph edges, first get yourself an old fashioned torch. One with a central bulb and, more importantly, a reflector. Take out the reflector and throw the rest of the torch away. The new LED versions are much better anyway. Standing the reflector so that from above, it becomes a dish place your edge marked piece as horizontally as you can in this bowl. As you're lowering it in, check that you can read the edge description. i.e. it's not upside down. This makes the later stuff easier. Now as you hover over the coin with your camera at an appropriate angle you'll see the edge inscription reflected in the bowl you have created, only now it will be in mirror writing. Take your pics and then reverse them out in your favourite editing software.

1 pointForget eBay for shifting things on at a sensible price as you are dealing with morons more often than not. The wife has just received a neutral for a fully described and illustrated item when the buyer said she thought she would be getting a reproduction, i.e the item wasn't 'not as described'!!! How the **** are you supposed to deal with people like that. You can't leave feedback identifying the idiot behind the id, but you as a seller are portrayed as a person shipping iffy items long after the 3 month period when things are still illustrated. eBay really do hate sellers and pander to the moronic majority.
