How long before some of those appear on eBay as "genuine" listings!

This is just a random selection of 8 favourite tracks (such a choice is in reality impossible): - Neneh Cherry & Yousuf N'Dour - 7 Seconds - Laurie Johnson - Theme to 'The Avengers' - Love - Alone Again Or - The Beach Boys - Surf's Up - The Who - Baba O'Riley - David Bowie - Life On Mars? - Ralph Vaughn-Williams - Fantasia on a theme by Tallis - Creedence Clearwater Revival - I Put A Spell On You (no Beatles as I simply found it impossible to isolate just one song)

Thanks. Its one of those dodgy Danbury mint coins with the Coa. I loathe them but it was cheap so i bought it. Not sure what the deposits were it was like a green crust that broke off in bits. Didn't seem like verdigris. Wonder if it was part of the Brussels hoard perhaps.

Looks like I have the finger penny after all. That is the same as mine in the pics above Although why I was imagining some gigantic finger like your country needs you poking out I'll never know lols

I came across this in David Sealy's Coin Varieties column in the December 1969 issue of Coins and Medals. It is probably the original report of this "variety". His explanation is as always, comprehensive.

I suspect quite a nice coin somewhere under all that grim, so worth the effort. I would try soap and warm water with a soft sponge first to see if the grime is going to shift easily. If not the olive oil treatment might do it.

Couldn't let it go just an upgrade to my ongoing albeit snail like full set of brass threepences in unc. Will need to save a few sheckles eventually swap out the 46 and 49. but this will do for now for £8 I think I bagged a bargain. couple of tiny greens to deal with but a cracking coin far better than the standard dross.

As I understand it, whenever there is an edge inscription, there is no reeding on British Crowns in this period. I have checked my own collection - the Jubilee headed Crowns and the Wreath Crowns have reeding as do the 1937, 1960 and 1965 in the pre-decimal era. The rest have edge inscriptions and no reeding, including the 1951 and 1953. BTW, have you got into the stop marks on the 1840s Crowns? The book says that both Cinquefoil and Star stops are possible on the 1844 and 1845 coins but I have never seen a Star stop 1845. (Some that claim to be, but always mis-identified.)
