Well when I started this thread I thought it was the quarter (+hAL on the reverse), but on reflection and on a bigger screen I now think it's probably an early RAVL (+RAV). Sorry about that. I am usually much better at spotting Rhuddlans in these random batches; I have 18 in my collection, very few of which were identified as such by the seller.

Another pick up from a bag brought to me at market. I think it is a Henry V Half Groat, S 1773 or near there, but I would appreciate confirmation or correction. Main identifiers for me seemed to be the mullet on the breast and the unusual Crown. Weighs 1.56g and measures about 20mm across.

Got an interesting one from June 1854 (exact date not known) referring to the Cuff coin auction of June 1854, and the sale on 26th June of one particular coin which fetched £260 hammer. Unsure which newspaper it's from - possibly The Times - but it makes for very good reading.

Much appreciated MrBadE, thanks, I think I've got the hang of it now. Here's another, worthy of a film, a short one though I'll give you that. Alec Guinness, Stanley Holloway, Sid James and little Alfie Bass.
