The verdigris has come off. The edges are knackered. But £9 all-in.

Well as far as lot 109 is concerned, they say this:- Obviously that will carry considerable weight in terms of provenance. Although neither lot 109, nor 112 look anything other than currency strikes to me. Maybe in hand they might look more convincing. As you say Chris, we must defer to the experts.

Personally i don't think so, i can't see signs of cleaning, no lines, evenly toned etc etc etc. I did however get an MS62 on my 1918 India Sovereign

That’s a blow, is the “details” statement justified in the hand? If not, break it out! I would not want a handsome coin condemned in print by somebody else’s opinion! And paying for the privilege! One more reason I would not use TPG’s. Jerry

    It's a plausible consideration, Chris.

I've given it a rub on my T-shirt so it's looking much better. I'll post another photo tomorrow when I've got some daylight.

Classic result of the horrible red card case of the 1950 proofs having an effect on (presumably) the side facing upwards.

I haven't worked out the chemistry yet, but on copper-nickel coins like this submersion in a half-strength ammonia solution will tend to decrease the oxidation. It would be interesting to give it a go.

Definitely "detracts". What a super coin it would be otherwise.

Well, it's nearly that time to pick this coin up, i called yesterday but the grading week was still on-going and also have to wait for the bill to land in my email, the lady did say it was done although the grades haven't been uploaded which is one thing i do find frustrating about NGC, PCGS list the grade virtually as soon as it's gone through the graders final look over. I suppose i'll just have to wait and see what it is when i go back.......... Munich coin fair this weekend also, even got the boss to come along with me, a coinie in the making, think i've bored her into eventual submission 😀
