  6. Sometimes I look into our Roo's eyes and think, yes, humans, we're f**kin' useless, aren't we. 60 million of us, and Piccaninny Watermelon Smiles Letterbox is the best we can come up with? Really? To hell in a handcart, and it's no less than we deserve.

  12. Hi all, Thanks for this post! I well remember Terry Page, he was another friend of my Fathers and he also had a shop in Brookley Road, Brockenhurst in the New Forest! which was only 8 miles from where we lived. He was a very genial man and very knowledgable about all aspects of the Antiques trade. He 'found' a lot of coins for my Fathers collection over the years. Happy days! Terry

  17. I'm not sure personally. If they have fallen, I can't say I've noticed. There will always be collectors and the collecting mindset will attach itself to something well documented - Peck, Freeman and Gouby were the pathfinders in that respect for modern milled pennies. They aren't solely reliant on the baby boomer generation for continued interest. Just as ancient coins were never reliant on people who were alive when they were circulating. At the end of the day, I collect pennies because of the interest and multi variety and certainly have no intention of selling my collection, irrespective of value.

  19. Like the stock market the numismatic market has cyclical ups and downs, and by virtue of their size , design and available literature pennies will always be amongst the more collected. Like stocks and shares you have to look at the long term. I have no intention of disposing of my collection, indeed a downturn is a buying opportunity. Just buy at the right prices and items that have lasting appeal to you and make sure your family know who to speak to when you pop your clogs, they will likely be pleased and you won’t care! Jerry
