Quite right Paddy, free listings means that there's no downside for a seller listing worthless crap. However, on the flip side I reckon that many of our rarest finds would have remained unlisted if they charged fees.

Sadly, just not wise enough to appreciate, or even care about, the implications of their actions. Greedy philistines like that can quite easily cause a knee jerk reaction; calling for the introduction of regulation and licensing. Would that be a bad thing, aside from the practicalities of implementation ? Bit like a fishing license, I suppose. Judging by the amount of finds popping up here there and everywhere, there must be quite a little flock to fleece.

Indeed - wonder what happened to the rest of the coins?

A little bit. But have a cup of tea and it'll soon pass. Nice find.

    £3.75 inc. postage from (it's not easy being) a dealer...…………...should I feel guilty? 🧐

What a difference lighting can make when buying or selling a coin. Good natural pictures can make all the difference on your choice of a coin. Below images of a recently bought 1880 Farthing for my collection. 1st Images taken by Seller: 2nd Images taken by me with daylight lamps. 3rd Images taken by me again using daylight lamps with reduced brightness at slightly different angles.

I really like overall the 1920-1922 half crowns when well struck. Some are extremely so with even a matte proof like appearance in the case of the 1920 and '21. Please have a look at the PCGS census and the PCGS # 512833 e.g. XXX.XX/12345678 Need Help? Verify Sponsored Ads (1920 1/2 Cr Satin) (Proof) 1 / 1 (1920 1/2 Cr Satin) (Proof) PCGS PR61

http://www.londoncoins.co.uk/?page=Pastresults&auc=157&searchlot=2670&searchtype=2 A London coins offering of a 3B reverse 1921 halfcrown with a photo of my own example.. I'm not going to count the denticles, but on my coin however examination of the second 1of the date in the coin below the reveals a curl on the tail of the 1 rather than a straighter 1 which is the case with the London Coins example

I agree, and particularly I feel "going cashless" represents the ultimate victory for the big-brother nanny state we now find ourselves living in. If everything is done on a card, the banks and by extension the government and anyone else bothered to find out, know exactly where we are and what we are doing all of the time. At that point I think I will go and find some jungle to live in somewhere, miles form this dysfunctional world!

If we ever go cashless..... ....don't think it'll make that much difference. People will still collect coins as icons of a bygone age. I hope we don't go completely cashless, although I accept there are those who are strongly pressing for us to go down that road, regardless of other's opinions. It irritates me that so many things are now enforced as cashless. Even the canteen at work has now gone cashless, with payment by contactless or via one of those infernal and vastly overrated "apps". Being able to pay by notes and coins is quite possibly the last bastion of true personal anonymity we have.

Funnily enough, i just counted the denticles on the London Coins site, Auction 157, lot 2670. I counted 189 on the 3B coin, so no difference. I hope that this helps.

I think there are a lot more 50p collectors than 100,000. I do the local markets regularly and I have at least a dozen really serious collectors and dozens more trying to get sets together for their children/grandchildren. Jemima Puddleduck at 2.1 million does not seem common enough to fill all these collections as I am constantly asked for it. With the even lower mintages for most of the 2018 50ps expect a blood bath! Part of the problem is a lot of the collectors for children/grandchildren want to get more than one complete set. I have one regular who is trying to get 5 sets of all the 50ps AND the £2s AND the old £1s! Very good business for me, but hard work keeping up with all their needs.
