That reminds me Years ago a lady friend was looking for an old Cliff Richard tune, “Two lips and seven kisses”. I remember her ringing around several local record shops to no avail. Then she rang a shop in the next village, “Do you have Two lips and seven kisses?” she asked. It all went rather quiet the other end for several seconds, then all of a sudden a male voice came back, “No love but i’ve got two balls and seven inches” Rather surprised, she asked “ is that a record?” to which he replied “ no love, it’s just above average” and hung up.

Did cross my mind to keep it Mike, but think I need to start being a bit more ruthless with spares. I have an F73 which is about on a par with this, but also has a repaired 7...….so thinking will probably hang on to that one instead.,

The vast majority of pieces are common, easily obtainable in top grades, and not very attractive or interesting. Then there are all sorts of fun advertising pieces, and oddities, some of which only very few are known. I dabble in the series as it crosses over with my interest in 19th century advertising tokens....

I could conceivably do some stats on this, because I have images of all Victorian Copper Pennies listed on ebay for a 5 year period, and before the Large Rose and F/B were known about by hardly any collectors. Problem is that there's well over 3000 images to check through, breaking down first into ww and no ww and then lower levels. I was leaving 1858 to nearer the end of this project.

I think Jon is right Terry as i used to be looking for them all almost daily. The F/B was not recorded and only quite recently discovered ,so plenty have been sold with the variety not attributed. When the first one sold that was heavily cleaned people maybe were not convinced what it was and sold for £9 LOT 2653 1/9/2013. In the same Auction on the same day 1/9/2013 LOT 2649 sold not attributed. Lots of people ( dont want one) dont look for them or because they are not in a book dont know what to look for. Years ago these were seen as worthless as they are plentyful and have few fans - I have a whole tray I have saved from coin fairs over the years , I bet there are some great stories to be told about many of them . The main thing missing is a cataloge giving info - I dont think anyone is working on one at the moment - such a pity

Information from Google. "George III brass 'spade' guinea card counter. 1790. Rev. C.W.B. & Co. Birm. Neilson 6910. The standard 'spade' design along with a spurious date is given. The legend reads: .C.W.B.ET.CO.DG./I.REX.F.D.B.I.R.M.1790. This garbled legend actually gives the maker's name, C.W.B & Co. (Charles William Bagnall) and the place of manufacture, 16, Hockley Street, Birmingham."

i've just noticed that yours is paired with a different Obverse as it has a Narrow Date , my example has a wide date.
