Looks a lovely coin if its genuine - i am not an expert on these, but I know they don't fart

.The Queen's Gambit was very good but I can't believe they've brought out a board game spinoff already.

Same here. It should be saltire stops on the obverse, not pellets. It's dodgy status is helped by a fine price of 525 and a VF one of 2250.

I would go for a fake . The dies seem to be engraved and not produced with the use of punches

He has now removed the listing. I think it was an honest mistake but it's a pity he didn't check after our first polite interventions. All's well that ends well, though it leaves a few questions about Lockdale's declared results....... And I've just received this message from him: You were correct the item has been took down the correct one relisted later tonight. I am sorry for the confusion.

I've had several die varieties in this series which Colin Cooke didn't have examples of; I don't think he was greatly interested in the series. There's a prejudice going back all the way to Bramah that these die variations are so numerous that they are not of interest to collectors; of course, if you applied the same thinking to the bun pennies, there would be no Freeman, Gouby etc. The reality is that this series is notoriously underexplored; you can get £50 or £100 for the more interesting die varieties in nice crisp grade, but not many people appear to be after them in circulated condition right now.

Not the only dodgy goings on. I 'won' lot 1093 in the last BSJ sale with a hammer price of £370. Prices realised now show a hammer price of £410, i.e. £10 above my max. It will be interesting to see where it reappears, as the buyer is presumably able to outbid you after the auction.
