I worked in the development of I.T. systems all my life and to see something this poorly tested really annoys me. It may not have the importance of the Royal Mail Horizon system or an Air Traffic Control system but if they're blaming the lack of rigorous testing on tight deadlines (set by themselves) they should be ashamed. And it doesn't say much for the level of respect they show to their customers. End of rant.

Managed to get an 1831 proof penny (the commoner type with the reverse inverted). It is true to say there is a small but visible edge knock on the obverse side, but that apart the coin is immaculate.

I often get the same sort of results but, of course, when you include them in a Word document or on a (Wordpress) web page, you can drag them to be the same size.

Believe me, I am very sympathetic and am annoyed with unnecessarily tight deadlines. The right approach is not to set such tight deadlines unless essential. But once a tight deadline has been set (as in this particular case), then it will create uncertainty if it's not met. And I agree that it was both self imposed and arbitrary on this occasion.

I can find it on the site now. "A BUYERS PREMIUM OF 24% OF THE HAMMER PRICE (PLUS VAT IF LOTS ARE COLLECTED OR DELIVERED WITHIN THE UK) IS PAYABLE BY THE BUYER ON ALL LOTS."

The more you look through this website for particular collections/coins etc, the worse it gets. It really is appalling. I hope someone from DNW is reading this thread.

Paper supplies must have run short!

Yes, this is the one that's at the top of their home page. Not nearly as effective as the old one IMO.

Agreed. They were changing the name. They didn't actually need to alter the site functionality at all. Bit of a dog's dinner now.

The DNW site was one of the best coin websites - very quick and easy to use. Excellent archive options. The new site is (currently) several steps backwards.

Their new website is a disaster. It runs like a dog, has no option to increase the number of items per page and has no option to select a sub-set of lots (e.g. pennies) from an auction preview listing. They're not doing themselves any favours.

They must have spent a fortune on this new look - it's surprising what an increase in buyer's commission can do.

Just now reading in the 'More Pennies' thread about the B over R 1862 penny which sold on eBay recently and it being only the eight known example it occurred I'd not shared this here. A 1694 halfpenny with the MVRIA error in the obverse legend. Before now both Rob and myself had believed there to be only three in existence. Mine makes four. Extremely rare, and to give this some context; there are now six 1695 DEI GRATIA halfpennies recorded.

That looks good. Do you have a pic of the reverse as well?
