I've always liked JRM as a person, ever since that famous put-down of David Dimbleby on QT. Priceless, the lesson of which is underestimate JRM at your peril.

I came across the November 1969 "British Coin Index" while clearing out before moving house. I must have inherited it from my dad, as I was only 6 years old in 1969. Some of the prices are quite interesting. Uncirculated Gothic Crowns seem a bargain at £185 (or £210 if you want the plain-edge proof), while poor old Churchill crowns haven't made much progress on the 37.5 pence quote in 1969. On the florins, my particular area of interest, there are some surprises. The 1932 UNC at £230 (not far off today's price in absolute terms) is more than the 1905 (£200) or 1925 (£220), while uncirculated 1849 Godless florins are only £34.

I bought a 1919KN from a schoolmate. My first dealer purchase was a silver 3d (GV) dated perhaps 1933? which was at least EF and cost me around 6d of my 1968 pocket money!

Thanks. Very nice to see. This seems to be the only one graded as PCGS (if that is right). After my post I got back in touch with NGC and they have now agreed to sort out their population: they will recreate an 1848/7 category and an 1847/6 or 8 category (which will then contain 3 coins, including mine and a details grade). Hooray! I have two other coins with NGC that should be the only examples graded in the NGC census but because they have been submitted for conservation (and the prior numbers not cancelled) the population is now over stated 200% and 300% respectively. I think these population errors must be common. I am now motivated to get NGC to sort those out too. Let’s see what they say … Thanks again for the photo.

REV G e of REG broken upper arm , this seems to be quite a common error , it does appear in general that there are many more errors associated with OBVERSE 6 second is a 4 G

whilst searching around I have found a number of die crack runs that give the appearance of errors whether they follow attempts to repair dies, I am not sure but they create some interesting flaws that if worn might give rise to the incorrect explanations

REV G OBV 7 B over R Looking at Richard's list of half penny varieties this is listed under OBV 5 but this one seems to be definitely an OBV 7 I have not seen an OBV 5 type so I assume the error must have happened twice

some of these errors might be of interest: REV G OBV 6 seems to have been struck with blocked 86 in the date there appear to be be no signs of obvious damage to the areas around the date

Rees-Mogg handed in a hand written resignation letter dated ‘St Crispin’s Day’ and requested that the new PM to "convey my resignation as secretary for business, energy and industrial strategy to the King". Isn't it rather poor that his handwriting is barely legible and that it wasn't sealed and written on a parchment. https://metro.co.uk/2022/10/25/jacob-rees-moggs-hand-written-resignation-letter-is-slathered-with-pretention-17633956/

Yes Dave phoned me Sunday asking why he had lots of people ask him for it , as he didnt think they were rare and seen and had plenty Large roses. By his own admission he didnt know the SMALL date was worth more and just priced as large rose 😀 The coin in Balwin is mine and the Low estimate of £400 i felt going off previous sales with only a few known fair.

I've ordered it. Was in my e mails when Dave's list arrived this time, instead of hours behind and finding what I wanted had already gone.
