How about this page from Chard's old web site? https://24carat.co.uk/frame.php?url=specificationsofbritishpredecimalcoins.html There's a more detailed table about half way down this wikipedia page too, but it doesn't have the silver threepence. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Coins_of_the_pound_sterling

I have now got hold of one of these, in pretty presentable condition too, and can confirm the high final 6 and a date spacing of perhaps 10.75 beads (definitely narrower than Gouby BP1866Aa.) Interestingly too, this one has a dirty big die crack through the ship - maybe that's why the die was discarded soon on and not many specimens escaped?

I acquired this rare 1901 Gouby Aa with the second 1 directly over the gap recently . 😊

Thanks, just looked at your rarest pennies listing. Once again, I feel we're all indebted to your perseverance assembling these sites. Especially those of us newer to collecting these, and with not much free time to do a fraction of the exhaustive research accumulated therein.

I'm not sure; I've called it a pattern but I've not seen it in hand so it might be a proof but it's probably unique being struck with reverse Freeman K which has the non-heraldically coloured shield.

This is the 1885 penny that you really want. I could kick myself for missing out on this a few years ago.

Two or more bidders must have really liked it and wouldn't let go. Not so nice as the Great Collections example - I upgraded 1884, 1885, and 1890 last week. They were all around the same price, average £31 + commission + really low shipping (all the similar condition) 1885 is below "New" and "Old"

It appears that Bernie had got his coins slabbed for the sale and interesting to compare the gradings against previous provenance, e.g. the 1863 die 2 was described as VF in the Laurie Bamford sale but had been graded as AU details-cleaned for Bernie's sale. And the F76 was EF in Laurie's sale but had improved to Unc in Bernie's sale ! As they say, grading is in the eye of the beholder.

Straightforward obverse 6 reverse G but a tidy enough coin. Jerry

I notice the 1954 Penny is for Auction with Sovereign Rarities 19Th November £90-120,000. Also a Silver proof Penny 1860 ,struck on a Heavy flan and another 8 or so ,all of which are rare.
