The only thing against it being a shove ha'penny is that usually the reverse was ground off, not the obverse.

Looks to be a halfpenny ground down on one side to play shove ha'penny.

Here are a couple of group pics of the British coins, I bought 36 on a little felt lined box, I think I have posted one of each type. I also bought a mixed lot in lesser condition including quite a lot of German coin types. Jerrj

I believe that the different weight coins were produced to test the dies on different width flans. Paul Holland has investigated this , Apparently the weight of the individual new flans was to equate to how many coins could be struck to the weight of one pound. If my memory serves me correct, one particular weight of flans worked out to 30 coins per pound.

I can’t see any evidence of this being “key over crown,” it just looks like a plain key to me (maybe a close-up of the obverse key would clarify?). I don’t know of any web resource, you might have to start buying a book or two. Here’s the mint marks for James I taken from the SCBC, which would be a good start! You can buy this for around £30 + postage from a dealer on here if you want one? https://rpcoins.co.uk/collections/catalogues-s-z/products/coin-of-england-2025-pre-decimal
