Best place? A coin fair every time, followed by a recognised dealer or auction house. EBay and Facebook are widely used but fraught with risk for a beginner, especially the latter due to the sheer number of fakes and misrepresentation. As you learn more about the subject you may be inclined to take greater risks on EBay - bargains can be had - but in general Caveat Emptor applies. Thanks for posting this both. It was always too good to be true when the sellers fees disappeared, now the buyer takes the hit! I suppose poor Ebay has to make its billions somehow, after all they have to keep employing all those accountants/politicians to avoid paying tax! Jerry

How is the fee calculated? When purchasing from UK-based private sellers, the Buyer Protection fee is calculated as: A flat fee of up to £0.75 per item, and 4% of the item price up to £300, and 2% of any portion of the item price from £300 to £4,000 There is a cap on the total fee amount you'll ever pay. Any portion of the item price over £4,000 will not incur any additional fee. Well, it’s here…eBay’s new buyers’ premium, but wrapped up as Buyer Protection, now applied to all private sales! HOWEVER, what used to be the old 10% commission, is now 22% by my maths! Plus they keep hold of the sellers share of the pie for quite a long while, now!
