Collectors' Coins Great Britain 2006 Edition

Damn it! The whole of the inside was proofread, but perhaps he didn't look at the ad. The back is just stupid isn't it! I'll make sure I change them now incase a reprint is needed in the future.
  2. Sorry Rob, you're going to hate me now I did buy it from Mr Gresly. An AEF example. Unfortunately the temptation to sell it the next day at the coin fair was too large, and although I didn't have it on display (with you in mind), I mentioned it to a dealer friend and he gave me a wadge of cash.

    Radio coverage

Yes, the time was changed late this time, sorry. It went alright this time I thought. I was my usual pesemistic self, refusing to believe that a man had a cartwheel twopence dated 1707 (the 9 had lost its tail), even though he would keep on insisting that wasn't the case! But there was good humour, consistant calls and the item with potential. I did drag a woman on the programme once that had found a stash of coins under her shed. This time I invited a chap from this forum, be he couldn't be air because of work.

The Spanish thing could also be a contemporary forgery. I have a few Spanish forgeries and all of them mix reverses and obverses and have a similar kind of appearance. Forgery was big in Spain and its colonies. Very nice to see you Oli, and I would be interested to hear about the typo! I'm just back today, so will need to catch up here. Sorry I didn't contact you about the halfpennies HPJ, I am still vewry interested. I'll be over in December for a wedding if you can wait that long.

    Grading

Absolutely right, it's tough as a collector if you don't know what you're looking at. It's important to dabble a little with a few dealers and stick with the ones you actually believe.
  6. Of course, but I like to think I can grade coins pretty well, and I'll also provide huge pictures of it. I may even send it on approval! Assuming I buy it of course.
  7. I don't think I have your email address. I'm on air in Luton from 3-4pm, but it'll probably run over as it usually does. How long is MK to Luton? Tell you what, how about Toddington services South bound about 4.15? That way, we'll already be out of town and on the M1 (it's easy to turn around to face either direction from Toddington services) If all works out, I'll let you have the Shilling for whatever I pay for it Rob.

    Collectors Coins GB 2006

    Yes, there it is.
  9. Delivery from the printers is expected Wednesday. I know Unknown wants one, hopefully a few more folk will too. http://www.predecimal.com/books/ccgb2006framed.htm Special cash offer....Send a £5 note (Eng or Scot!) with your address and I'll post one via surface mail from Germany. Or, other payment methods are accepted in the book section of the main predecimal.com C Perkins Hauptstrasse 33 Burkhardtsdorf 09235 GERMANY
  10. Do you fancy coming down to Luton and being on the radio with them while I look them over? I do a coin phone in on BBC 3CR, and Luton looks to be about half way. I'll be there Friday 4th Nov from about 3pm. You'll trust I'm honest that way, or I'd be lying to a quarter of a million people at the same time Email me (cp@predecimal.com) for details. And, that was the funniest typo I've seen for ages. I'll leave it un edited just for its comic value!
  11. Do you want it Rob? If not, I probably wouldn't mind.

    The Gay links

I've just removed a long gay porno post with links to a gay website. Syl, if you spot these before I do, can you make a note of the IP address (which appears in the left pane at the bottom of the post) and let me know it before deleting the message. The last (85.21.86.202) originated in Russia, so I wrote an email to the Russian ISP complaining that this forum is frequented by youngsters and that the user on that IP had posted very inappropriate pornographic info. I got a confirmation email in English and Russian straight after. I'll block all people using that particular Russian ISP.

    The Gay links

Yes, it was certainly that area, but I'm quite sure my distant cousins (possibly) the current Lord and Lady of Lothian are far removed from that sort of behavior.

You are the worlds biggest tart! Geordie, the Reivers? What's a Reiver?

    The Gay links

Not as far as I know! The last Kerr in my line was Annie Jane Kerr, who married a Perkins in 1892.....Thankfully I don't think the awful name 'Wayne' was invented at that time.

    The Gay links

Well I never. I've been doing some family history research, and today, I just found out that my Great Great Great Grandparents were Scottish! I don't know what the Husband was called yet, but the wife was called Jane Kerr. So now I have a tartan and everything! I was thinking of getting a small army together to re-claim my 'Kerr' ancestral home, which is this castle: http://www.discovertheborders.co.uk/places...ges/1101-1.html Who wants to help?

    Help identifying 2 coins

Depends on condition. You can't go wrong for £1 each though, they should at least be worth double that if they're all readable.

The head side is the obverse. (the most logical thing in the world). Sounds like one of these: http://www.predecimal.com/forsale/11/shilling1887c.jpg That's a shilling. The size (in mm) is the most important thing now!

Do they look like this: http://www.predecimal.com/forsale/11/halfc...fcrown1887e.jpg (that's a half crown)

    Ebay - again

Yes, those bloody spoof emails claiming to be from ebay (and often paypal and some banks) annoy me more than spam at the moment.
