The Gothic and Elizabeth I coins are basically along the same awful theme as the Cromwell. The Duke and Duchess coin is completely unrecognisable. Did the Somali mint get Stevie Wonder to engrave it?
-
I wish I could permit myself to blatantly swear in my own forum! That is absolutely awful, the most awful thing of 2005 so far (and quite likely of the whole of 2005). Will Coincraft stop at nothing in producing stupid novelty items that no true coin collector would ever want to own. The fact thay have the word 'Coin' in their name surely must go against the trade descriptions act, because a lot of what they sell is hyped up shit (hypedupshitcraft?). Novelty items designed to somehow fool people with an IQ of less than 20 into believing any of it is actually remotely collectable! And the mintage is limited to 1,500. How the $@?! they find 15 people to actually want to take that into their home is beyond me. Is the whole world bloody mad. If any of you forumees EVER notice any of that kind of tosh on my website you have permission to shoot me. And if I ever get wind that any of you have a Somalian Cromwell novelty item, I'll shoot you! Can I get sued for any of that?

Help Needed to Sell Coins & Bank Notes

By the way, where are you located? As postage costs may be an important factor. X -
Yes, lots of people call them that, although The 1797, 1799, 1806 and 1807 issues were all made in Soho (not Red Light District London, Soho in Birmingham).

The 1881H Farthing varieties.

I've edited this post, because it was complete rubbish! I'd mis read my Freeman. Freeman lists just 1 type of 1881H Farthing. -

JMD, Can you email anything you want to add to CCGB, as I'll never find it all again here. cp@predecimal.com -
The 1881H Farthing varieties.
Chris Perkins replied to Chris Perkins's topic in British Coin Related Discussions & Enquiries
I think it already contains more variety listings than any other price guide by quite a margin. I think varieties should be listed and as many as possible, but only if they have an effect on the value of the coin. -
The 1881H Farthing varieties.
Chris Perkins replied to Chris Perkins's topic in British Coin Related Discussions & Enquiries
Those varieties are so difficult to explain without pictures, I think they are too advanced for CCGB2006! Like you say, it could easily be 250 pages thick, and it's a bit beyond the scope to go that far. Most dealers would just charge the same amount for each without even looking. -

What has your friend on the inside told you Juan? Dish the dirt old chap. -
Best thing for it!
-
Welcome Martyn, looks like it'll be a good website if the first page is anything to go by. Do you have the 3 Wreath Crowns still? Maybe we can cross link, or perhaps you can become an accessory affiliate, like onlinecoins...They do ok out of that.
-
It's cp@predecimal.com

Vinegar will certainly not make them collectable! But the chances are they were ruined in the earth before you put them in vinegar. What are the silver ones like? Usually silver does better than copper underground. It may be best that you take them out of the vinegar, rinse them and let me see pictures.

Any in nice condition?
-
It'll be an X (for REX, the Latin for King) If it's only slightly larger than a 1912 Penny and twice as thick, it's sure to be a penny (they were bigger then)
-
JMD, I don't think realistically Peter and I are going to do another Peck just yet! But I would welcome your findings for possible inclusion in the CCGB2006
-
Go to www.rotographic.co.uk, find the price entry area and enter the price and grade etc, if you can. Do for all the coins you buy if you like. The others all do.....Don't you, others!
-
Who's Dr Nupam? Sounds like a useful person to know.
-
No, you copy it out first, then we can approach Peck (is he still around?) and other experts for the updates!

2005 Sovereigns
Chris Perkins replied to Emperor Oli's topic in British Coin Related Discussions & Enquiries
I know some very attractive over 30's...Even over 40's. Beggars can't be choosers. In many cases I would say that older is better when ladies are concerned too! -
With my publishing hat on, I have often thought about trying to re publish Peck, or Freeman, or a newer ESC. Then I get put off my the massive amount of work and the fact that no one outside the 'coin world' will ever need one. I expect the reason that these books are not produced more often is that economically they simply will never sell like a Harry Potter. It's sad, but most businesses will always concentrate on what they know they can make the most money on. If only Peck had been compiled digitally, it could then be printed off and bound at will with no risk involved for the publisher. Peter, copy out your Peck into a Word file, go to the British Museum, get it fully updated with all the new findings then I'll publish it on demand for you!
-
I'm not sure either, but I ought to change it in the next edition to be the date on the coin!
