York Coin Fair
Chris Perkins replied to Geoff T's topic in British Coin Related Discussions & Enquiries
Like I said to a policeman last week who looked in shock as my '72 Triumph 2000 started squirting a jet of steaming water 5 feet in front of the car: 'It's a small price to pay for style'. If I need to get somewhere far away I may be inclined to get a hire car for a few days. -
Whats rarer?

So it's like a Churchill Vinyl silk proof crown then? -
York Coin Fair
Chris Perkins replied to Geoff T's topic in British Coin Related Discussions & Enquiries
York? That's up North somewhere isn't it? If only I felt confident that my '72 Triumph 2000 could ever get that far. -
It was up for £550 was it? I can't remeber. I'd take £450 for it. Picture below sylvester.

Yes I have the 1868 Cu Ni coin. I do have a chap nearby that has been umming and ahing about it for weeks, I think he may go for it and send it to Australia, but nothing is concrete yet.

I don't think I get the medal unless I buy it, I get a silver medal in 25 years! Thanks,

coin sets, how do you get info on them?
Chris Perkins replied to samantha pia's topic in Beginners area
Don't worry about it at all, you younger members are all regular customers, you really help me out with the Book research and I wouldn't expect the you to pay anything towards this forum, which is basically shaped by you lot. When you're famous collectors you can show me your appreciation by selling to/through me and carrying on buying the odd coin from me. -

Well that's charming isn't it! The things I do for you lot and what thanks do I get for it, absolutely buggar all (Actually I received another donation during the week to help towards hosting costs. The donor will of course remain anonymous unless he/she wants to own up in the forum somewhere) -

I'm 25, I'll be 26 on Tuesday actually. (Unfortunately I think you're too late to get a card to me ) -

I'm sure he'd manage that without much trouble. (Sorry mate... Now look what happens when a pretty face shows up. Straight away friends can become competitors, and slightly nasty posts are exchanged. Sam, at this stage I think it's probably best if you email me to save us offending each other ) -

Chris i hate to say it but that chat up line is almost as good as 'get yer coat you've pulled' What's wrong with 'Get yer coat, you've pulled'? -

Well yes of course, and I already have a girlfriend but I would be happy to help you in anyway with your coins. You'll find me very trustworthy in every respect, as do the 250,000 people that listen to my monthly BBC 3 Counties broadcast on the subject. (Not many people can use that as a chat up line ) But seriously, it's good to see a pretty face among all these mostly blokes. Email me cp@predecimal.com for a no obligation expert consultation! -

You're certainly the prettiest female on here, so watch out for all these young men that frequent this place! (especially me ) -

Hang on a moment, 2 points.... The 1953 Set is an official set (they had 9 coins and not the Crown) and I sell them for around £20 if there are no rips and minimal toning on the coins. Nevermind all the rest, is that actually a picture of you Sam? My avatar is really me too ;) -
I've got one of those rare 2p's!
Chris Perkins posted a topic in British Coin Related Discussions & Enquiries
The 1983 'New Pence' 2p I received 2x 1983 Brilliant Unclirculated Royal mint sets today, each with a different 2p in it (one of them being the mule of course). I will arrange paying the seller (who was fully aware about the 2p situation) and I may hang onto this coin as there are a relative unknown amount of them in existance. Anyone know what these have been sold for recently? IMPORTANT: Anyone reading this that gets excited about the rare 'New Pence' 2p, please see this page, and don't email me to ask! http://www.predecimal.com/newpence.htm -
Farthing hoard.

Buggar, did you see that. Cooke got them at £510 at the last second, and I thought my £500 would be enough!! Grrrr -
I've got one of those rare 2p's!
Chris Perkins replied to Chris Perkins's topic in British Coin Related Discussions & Enquiries
No I think there are probably lots of dealers that have them. I would show you a picture Jmd, but as the Reverse is just like the normal 2p before 1981, and the Obverse is exactly like the 1971-84 2p I thought it pretty pointless. -
specific grading guidelines
Chris Perkins replied to kuhli's topic in British Coin Related Discussions & Enquiries
Ahh, thank's mate! Us honest coin dealer types have to work together and I have no problem with forum users refering to other sites that I know are very good. I did talk with Wybrit once about creating a definitive guide to British coin grading. Now I have this book thing, perhaps a printed publication would be a super idea. -
specific grading guidelines
Chris Perkins replied to kuhli's topic in British Coin Related Discussions & Enquiries
Good idea Kuhli, some kind of guide to grading British Coin types is well overdue. It may be easier to go by monarch head than coin type though, as in many cases the head stays more constant than the tail, and many heads across the denominations also suffered the same striking problems. -
Happy Larri, I see you've been busy and ordered Dr Sriro's CD and some other stuff. He will be pleased. I've emailed you about it and perhaps the Dr can help with your conder.

Jmd, Put it in the Rotographic database so I don't forget, and I'll probably include it. (I assume you know how much it went for etc?)
