Use an HTML editor and copy the finished text. I have never tried it, but William seems to have images. You have to make sure it's a jpg or gif and not too large. How big is the image?

Louise, It's a 'Three halfpence' (or one and a half pence). It was made for use in the colonies, but because it is just like larger GB denominations it's often included as a 'British' coin. Values are just a few pounds in F-VF condition.

I have a feeling some of them went into cases officially, I know the 1983 Pound coin did and the 1953 Crown did. I'm pretty sure the 1981 Charles and Di Crown, 1977 Silver Jubilee Crown and 1980 Queen mother Crown went into plastic cases at the mint..... Although I could be wrong, they could be un-official bank issued cases, but there are alot of them around, which would support the official theory.

The reason you are at the top with 'seadart' Bob is because you have probably the only website in the world that uses those 2 words together, or at least uses them together the most. The search engine bots need just follow a link form another site, and there you are, at the top. Being top with 'seadart' is all very well, but how many people around the world actually search for that phrase?? :s Geting to the top with a more common well used phrase like 'British coins' was a little harder, but with the right research and experimentation, not impossible.

I bought about 30 1964 Kennedy Half dollars as part of a collection. I have separated the very best coins, and have 14 BU coins. In case you didn't know: The 1964 Kennedy Half was intended to be a commemorative but proved so popular, they still produce them now. 1964 was also the last year that the USA used proper silver in coins. The coins are .900 fine silver, 30.6mm in diameter, weigh 12.5g and contain .36 of an ounce of pure silver. £3.00 each, I only have 14, and 5 of those are already on eBay. I think online auctions, especially ebay are major players with large volumes of lower priced (and some higher) coins offered, and I also don't believe they are taken into account when many of the catalogues are compiled. I shouldn't think there would be an automated accurate way of doing it. Any market prices can only be arrived at be educated research. In the end, it's just down to who's educated research you take as gospel. Like most people I think it's best to make your own comparisons and use your own experience to arrive at accurate values.

No it doesn't, I don't believe they made cases for them back then, as they were probably intended to be spent. I could be wrong. No one actually knows when Maundy stopped being a thing for the poor, and became an annual thing for the pomp.

I did my 4th BBC 3 Counties Coin phone in on the Radio on friday just gone (23rd April 2004). I had to see a small collection somewhere else in Luton first, and despite leaving with half an hour to get to the studio (also in Luton) I managed to get completely lost on the one way system and just went around in circles for half an hour! Myself and my old faithful car was starting to overheat a bit too (picture below for illustrative purposes). I called the station to admit I was having a stupid moment and was going to be a little late. I got there 10 mins late, and although they were fine about that I was a little flustered, and they had not promoted the phone in as much, without actually seeing the whites of my eyes (understandably). Combine that with the fact it was a beautiful hot day in the middle of the school holidays and this led to a much lower volume of call ins than previously. I remember that out of perhaps 10 enquiries, 2 of them were actually potentially nice coins, so although I wasn't satisfied was my performance, I was assured it was still good radio. A dealer friend of mine contacted me to request some Nirvana for the next show! Rockin'

I'm afraid i didn't get a chance to renew my latest ad with: 'I have £100 to spend on coins this week' Or some such Coincraft spoof, but it's still top priority for the next one. I think there really needs to be less hard sell and stufiness in coin dealing. We need a little lightheartedness, humour and pehraps a little Rock 'n' Roll at the same time. I wonder if the Darkness would endorse me as their coin dealer of choice!! I can picture it now, an image of glam and spandex, with 'I want to spend £100 on coins this week'. 'Predecimal.com, coin dealer to 'The Darkness'! That sounds pretty funny, but I have certainly learn't that most coin collectors are not into trendy music, and that many coin collectors are young, so perhaps that would be a big market to tap into with 'Rock 'n' Roll Coin dealing'

No, the book covers everything, Celtic to Now. You're probably thinking of the equally well put together 'Collectors Coins Great Britain 2004; I've got a fine 1791 Guinea, is that up your street?

DAS, Sorry, I think I may have acidentally removed your membership during a period of housekeeping a while ago If you re register as DAS I'll bump your no. of posts up. There are some quite big differences between price guides aren't there. They all claim to get their results from dealers lists, auction results, market feel, independant experts etc. For my coins I rarely charge the full Spink prices (except for very rare of choice sought after coins). From what I have heard, many regard the 'British Coin Market Values 2004' as showing more or less the most accurate prices in most instances, but of course others say differently.

William, the jury was out on the 1902, I think it was a Maundy one, if it's the one I think! Master JMD, you've probably got a normal 1914 Threepence. Maundy ones are usually very high grade (because they were never spend) and look prooflike, often toned darkly from being in their cases.

Hopefully the next newsletter will go out this weekend, or at least part of it, as I have a lot to do still. Maybe during the week depending how the scanning goes. You are on the mailing list already are you?

The case is not original, they were never supplied in those, I would expect that is from the 60's. 1943 and 1944 are hard years to get in respectable grades. I hope you like it when you get it.
