    Was this a good buy?

Look on the Colin Cooke website Master JMD, the fully story about it is there.

    How was the Radio show?

Yes, that's my 'UK Triumph'. These are a couple of pictures of the 'German Triumph' that I have downstairs in the garage right now. It looks nice, has a set of 15" MGF alloys on it, which I feel are far superior to the standard Triumph 13" alloys. Apart from that (and the CD/MP3 player), it is completely original, and has covered less than 37,000 miles since it was built, in Solihull, in the June of 1981.

That's just silly, it would cost you more to post it! (by the way Sylvester, your cheque is in the post. Sylvester sells his coins the easy way, and in doing so, he helps keep little coin dealers going! )

Well that's very kind of you to offer Kuhli, and your 50p decimal would be great too Bob. I'll perhaps create a paypal donation button and put it on the bottom of the forum at some point. Or cash/cheques, paypal to cp@predecimal.com are all very welcome. I have until the end of the month before Lee, at my hosting company will probably ask me to pay extra. He has been letting me off for months now, and I had some time to try and reduce the B/W, but haven't had much luck.

    How was the Radio show?

I worked with John when I was at Bromcom Computers (http:/www.bromcom.com) for just over 3 years about a year and a half ago. He'll a good chap, if a little geeky and colour blind.

    How was the Radio show?

John!!!!! I knew that was you from the name, you really didn't need to put so many hints in the post! You can probably get the broadcast on AM in Sydenham you know. Didn't you use a similar email address to scare the life out of me by claiming to be someone that I didn't want to know about me Bloody Git! How are you mate? And how is everyone at my former employers? I emailed Kelly the other month, never got a reply, is she still there?

    Question about German coins.

Strictly speaking the display of the Swastika is still illegal and punishable by fines and even prison sentences. I have a feeling though that it either doesn't apply to numismatics because they are in a way contemporary 'documents' for historical study, or they turn a blind eye because the coins are so widespread still. I suspect that it's probably an eBay policy regarding where they can and cannot be sent, for fear of them being sold to Neo Nazis...It could even be the sellers policies. I tried to do some eBay research into WWII helmets, as I have one, but when trying to browse from Germany, the WWII German helmet section was barred! I currently have quite a selection of 2 Mark, and 5 Mark coins, as well as the smaller denominations. Shall I make a list for you?

    How was the Radio show?

This is a picture of my 1972 Triumph 2000. Taken on the same day, but not in Luton. Wonderful 70's luxury, and it gobbled up about 500-600 miles of motorway last week with just 2 flooded float chambers (easily sorted, adds smell and character!) Not bad at all when you consider she is actually older than nearly all the motorways themselves!

    Debating

I'll start another topic for that....

Bum, so I have! I'll turn that off, thanks. No, because text is very small indeed in terms of bandwidth, and I have a feeling that once you have viewed it on the entry page, your browser just repeats it at the bottom of other pages from your local PC cache. Images are by far the largest drain on bandwidth. Thanks for the suggestion.
  11. Yes it would, then you should have said that. And it probably would only be more sought after because it would be even more difficult to find another 1900 error Crown, and it is regarded as a rarer more pleasant coin in the first place.

I had a little clean up already of the odd dead irrelevant topic, and I can indeed remove the topics from the main site but have them accessible if you adjust something that will let you view the older topics. I'll do that at some point. It is of course important to keep most things, as they provide useful info for browsers (the thousands of people that silently watch, and YOU know who you are!!) Will, your signatures are very small, and once they are in most browser cache's they don't take up anymore bandwidth.
  13. The 1951 Crown is not recorded in English Silver Coinage. Mainly because it is clearly an error and not a variety. I have had dealing with Lloyd Roberts, he's definitely straight, but I too think that's an awful lot of money for a coin that had a collar slip or suchlike, especially as the usual ones are under £10.00 Master J.M.D, try to move into the level of 'coin conciousness' where age is absolutely irrelevant and condition/rarity dictate everything. You can do it, the force is strong with you.

    I'm not saying a word.

I had no idea you really liked mass-debating so much Oli

Thanks. To quate a popular supermarket advertising campaign: Every little helps.
  17. See here: http://www.predecimal.com/dictionary.htm It's my little general numismatic dictionary thing, do you like it? It was bought to my attention that there was be some words missing. So tell me some coin related phrases or words that you think I should add...And the definitions, and I'll add them!
  18. The Wreaths are not all still there, I've sold 5 of them but either haven't been paid yet, or haven't had a chance to remove them.
  19. Chris Perkins

    Dictionary additions.

I have a blue plastic 'decimeter' with 2 wheels, one for £ and one for S, and it tells you in the little windows what it is in new money. Not as much fun as the card game I'm sure.
  20. Chris Perkins

    Grading

Yes, post 1816 is much easier than pre because of the technology, but it's basically the same thing. Assuming the coin is struck properly you're still looking for how much wear there is. It's a very complicated thing and it certainly very different for early milled. Hammered, well hammered is like another language.

    Coin Variables

Yes but it is flawed and I can't be bothered to correct it: Third Farthing = bit more then a quater farthing! (come on) And what is a Coin variable...You mean denomination? Guinea = 21 shillings (the value of a Guinea was not always fixed and went up to 30s at one stage) Half Sovereign = Gold Bullion. Sovereign = Gold Bullion.............Not really, they were 20s and are now traded as bullion after the gold standard was dropped. I really like your entusiasm Master MKD, and your desire to help people is admirable also, but it's very lacklustre. This one is going, you are however welcome to do proper research and submit a better 'British Predecimal denimination' guide if you wish.

    Coin Variables

Please don't take offence Master JMD, if I remove this thread when you have acknowledged you are aware of that fact.
  23. Chris Perkins

    Coin Variables

Yes, and Florins and shillings were demonetised in the early 90's, (double florins, oficially never) and I'm sure silver threepences continued being legal tender until D Day, they just stopped producing them in 1945 (or earlier for Mainland GB). You should absolutely get your facts right Master JMD, before you, as a beginner, attempt to offer information to ther beginners.
