Well strictly speaking Northern Ireland is not British, it is part of the United Kingdom, but not part of Great Britain. So what about the Isle of Wight, isle of Sheppey and Scilly Isles etc? I think if you're going to call them British you can't exclude the Ch Islands.

The 'To Hanover counters' are more accurately refered to as 'Cumberland Jacks' as they depict the Duke of Cumberland. They were never intended to be Sovereign fakes and have never really fallen into the forgery catagory. I doubt also the the Halfpenny is worth much in that condition.

You'll have to join and let us see a scan really. The wrong legend could be where it's worn away, that may also account for the appearance of the head and Britannia. Forgeries are very common, so it's quite likely, but I cannot be sure without a picture.

That reminds me: I bought a collection once and included with it were 3 of the original 1903-04 Murdoch collection Spink auction catalogues. All are fully illustrated, but most interestingly, in one or two of them, they have the buyers names and prices hand written in ink, in the margin next to the lots. So perhaps it was even the auctioneers copy! And there are some famous names written there too. I still have them, and only wish I could time travel to 1903 with £1000.

If you were half Iraqi and half British Oli and had relatives in GB and Iraq, I think the lawlessness and general unrest in Iraq would probably be of greater importance to you to the asylum problems in Blighty. Asylum: It does seem from what I have read that the government seemed to be massaging the figures a bit. Although I'm sure from Germany I probably don't know the full story. Yes, but if it had been so, it would have been a good honest British made stool, hand worked from a mighty oak by a skilled British craftsman. It would have been such a special stool that the King himself would have gladly swapped is throne for it. Anyway, we'll stop that there, I feel it's getting stupid.
