According to Krause 2002, those denominations from that year have been reported to exist, but never confirmed. So I imagine that at least makes them very rare if the Krause researchers can't find one....If they even exist at all.

Yorkshire is like a whole other Country isn't it! Wow.

Sorry to hear that Dan. Form what I hear, I'm pleased I'm not on AOL. Mind you I've been getting a lot of spam lately (more than usual) and I heard it was quite good at handling that.

Early Milled Coinage
Chris Perkins replied to Sylvester's topic in British Coin Related Discussions & Enquiries
Eliza, yes feel free to send me your results. If the publishers ever find it I'm sure they'll ask to remove it nicely before sueing. In fact I may put it any a passworded area just for anyone that asks. Sylvester, There is indeed a 1675 5/4 variety listed, ESC gives it 'R' (Rare) The 1676 6/5 is also 'R'. The normal 1676 is also 'R' and the normal 1675 is 'N' (normal). I don't have the gold book, but I know there is one somewhere with an 'R' scale. -
Good point Olli, they do look suspiciously repro like. I tell you a funny story....I had someone contact me once claiming they had an Elizabethan large gold coloured coin, I said well you'd better send a scan then. They were of the opinion that it was very very valuable. I got a scan eventually, sure enough a picture of Elizabeth I graced the front, but the coin was perfectly round, obviously milled and had 'English Heritage, Hampton Court Palace' writen on the back! I never got a reply when I told them it was worthless brass no more than 20 years old and issued at a popular tourist attraction!

What do you need Paul, I'd be glad to keep an eye out. Although the old memory isn't what it used to be, are you on my mailing list?
-
Well that's clear then! Thanks Eliza.

He's a good chap, but I find he's not all that good at responding to my emails. In fact I'm still waiting for a reply I think for some pictures I asked for. Good prices though, and a lot of British stuff for an American.

You nearly always find that common coins sell for around 75% at the most of Spink Catalogue prices. Rare or very choice coins often sell from more than catalogue value, often quite a bit more. From a coin dealers point of view, ebay is bad, because it means that every member of the public can offer their granny's collection for sale and they no longer do what they would have done before ebay and sell to a coin dealer. They also don't grade coins, and when they do, it's usually completely wrong. That's why I prefer to sell from my site, not eBay, not that I think I've priced things too expensively, some things do better on ebay. In fact, it's bloody useful for items that don't sell quickly, that you need to get shot of. So if you're someone thinking of selling some coins...Do everyone a favour and sell to a dealer (Like, I don't know, me for example ) who will give you money right away, grade them properly and offer them with a proper money back guarantee at fair price.

Something to drool over!
Chris Perkins replied to Geoff T's topic in British Coin Related Discussions & Enquiries
The Edward VIII coin is a modern made pattern, worth about £25.00, I don;t even think it's solid gold. The Irish coin is nothing sepecial. That seller must have done it for fun, as we all know there is no way they are going to sell, and eBay will profit , as usual. -
That's a good theory I suppose. It may have been a Quarter of a penny 'Mecca' token (or what ever the big bingo company was then).

I've emailed you, thanks for your consideration. -
Giggles, I hope you don't mind, I deleted the duplicate post as it contained the same picture. I have no idea what they are. The medal expert here, who is Geoff T may be able to help if he is around.....Geoff, you there? Any ideas anyone?

How many of them are crisp as near as Uncirculated as can be? I don't think any collectors will want the well worn ones, so you may as well pay them in. I may pay face value plus, say 10% for the crisp ones. thanks -
Looks real enough to me, but you have to go by the sellers reputation and perhaps ask if they offer a returns policy etc. You can never be 100% sure from a small picture like that. The seller looks pretty new to eBay but they seem to know their stuff. My friend Richard has Byzantine gold www.coinsforsale.com

Early Milled Coinage

Feel free to email them to me and I'll put them on my web space with a link to them. -
I think the fellow must be getting his British birds confused, which can be a very dangerous thing to do in some circumstances! I have never heard of a Robin farthing, just the Wren....Which looks very much like a Robin.
-
I rekon that's more than VF, you often get weak bits on Victoria's head. See what you mean about a potential clean though, but that could just be beautiful toning. I know the buyer, lives in the Lake District.
-
And I bet no one dared tell him to.
-
Oh you must have missed out on that one Olli
-
Eliza, I hope for the sake of your neighbours and other fellow Americans that you have more frequent baths than your namesake.
-
Yes indeed, but I think I glossed over that one and moved it on pretty well!
-
Who's that then?

Maybe in 2-3 years it will contain the most reference material on British coins in one place that you could possibly imagine. I must admit the forum has grown quicker than I expected, and I sleep soundly, knowing that I have got people together with a common interest and I gain knowledge here myself, as well as customers. I said it beofore: 'The Forum is greater than the sum of its parts'.
