    Early Milled Coinage

Probably up to 1763 I would have thought, until the £100 worth of Nothumberland's. Who knows??!! Nobody. Chris
  2. I find the 1952's sell for £3-4 even in Good, but you can't go far wrong swapping that kind of toot for high grade silver coins! I bet he'll use them as wedding sixpences. That's very popular over there, and unless he's a mormom with 20 daughters he may sell them on, or perhps as Brian May style Guitar plectrums! I recently arranged the sale of 1000 non silver US half dollars to be used in Italian magic tricks by the 'Great Ernesto' (ok, it's just Ernesto, but the 'Great' added feeling!) Talking of plectrums, I once had a Japanese Guitar shop manager buy all my EII Sixpences to be sold as Brian May plectrums in Japan! (Brian May actually uses a sixpence as a plectrum) Rock On Chris

    So who's watching Nip/Tuck?

I'll see it in a couple of years no doubt when they've dubbed it and show it here. Chris

    Early Milled Coinage

That's interesting...I just read that during the first 10 years of the reign of George III (1760-1770), £3,810 worth of farthings were struck all from the 1754 George II Dies. That equates to 3,657,600 1754 farthings on top of the original 1754 farthings. Chris
  5. Sylvester, Well to sell it retail i'd obviously sell for more like £300 but would really expect it to go that quickly. You got it for a good price, and I'm expecting the 'Mystery' sixpence hopefully tomorrow, so watch this space. Chris
  6. Sylvester, Yeah that worked....Right an offer. I suppose £200 if it shows no mounting traces? Maybe we could do something with that sixpence I mentioned. Chris
  7. Sylvester, You should get a 'File attachments' prompt under the box you write the post in? I had a look at the permissions and cannot see a reason why you are not getting that...yet. I was not able to follow your link, it said 'not allowed', or words to that effect. Chris
  8. Yeah, I've bought a few blind lots from Lockdales and they normally take me ages to re sell with about a 10% profit in the long, long run. Hardly worth it most of the time. I might make it one of the prerequisites of forum membership that you are not allowed to sell anything on ebay and have to support me Anyway, failing that at least I have you! Actually, I've bought too much lately and I should really sell something big, like my 1937 Sov to make up for it. Chris
  9. Dan, I see your VIP HC has finished. Super price, but to a very new person, so best of luck with it. Chris
  10. Sylvester, I was never lucky enough to make a first contact. If you could tell him about predecimal.com and ask if he would consider cross linking i'd be very grateful. Chris
  11. Good old Tony Clayton again. I emailed once or twice to see if he would cross link, never got a reply!! I refuse to link to him now, but his site is bloody good. Chris
  12. Are you refering to the fact that you may buy things, and if not entirely satified for one reason or another pass them on to me? Love your style! You can learn lots from this man folks....Sell me your bloody coins too, please. Chris

    e-bay sellers

To quote the ebay 'seller': 'Its a very good chance to complete a penny collection, or indeed a 'head' colllection.' Well I'd love a collection of head! You'd probably get a lot of head for £250! Really pisses me off when I see the old car salesman phrase used when describing coins.... 'Good condition for age'!!! Crap, they should be in perfect condition regardless of age! Chris

    Query about the Forum

No, that was me! I was messing around with the page layout, deep in the darkest depths of the php code and I forgot to put the buttons back properly!! I've finished now, and the main change is that the main menu is incoporated into the page code (top and bottom) and not running in a seperate frame like before... Which looked a bit Mickey Mouse. It also means that you use less connections, so it should work a little smoother. Chris
  15. I don't think I want it that much! I'll keep an eye out for a second hand copy, I do have a few tokens (including 2 of the Scottish one mentioned by Katie) that i'd like to find out about. Let me know when you've finished with yours! Chris
  16. Thanks for answering that one Mish. I keep meaning to get a copy of "The Provincial Token-Coinage of the Eighteenth Century". Where did you get yours? Chris
  17. Who finds British Edward VII coins the hardest coins to grade from the last 200 years of British coins?

    Roman Gold Soldius Opinions!

Well coin collecting of any kind should really be about what you want in your very personal collection, and the coins that give you pleasure to behold. Far less important is the value, and future value. In fact many people that go into it for investment make grave mistakes without sufficient knowledge of the subject. You may just find that your coin skips along at the same rate as inflation, or like so many 80's US investors, that the value takes a nose dive! I'm afraid I cannot tell you how high to go as I do not know too much about gold Roman coins, how much money you are able to spend on your hobby, or how comfortable you really feel with that coin. You can of course be satified that if you do win it on ebay for however much, that the second highest was just a few pounds below you! My advice, hold off a bit, get a decent book, read up and then come back to the one on the other website and search regularly on ebay. Chris
  19. Do they have an online catalogue and is email bidding allowed? Although I am in Germany, I was brought up not too far from Croydon and had heard that the Croydon coin auction was pretty popular. Chris

    Query about the Forum

I assume that was you Olli? I've changed things around a bit now, so that the forum is in one frame and the Main menu is always near the top, and at the bottom. It makes things appear more together I think. Chris
  21. I know the 'Wybrit'. Bought a coin of him the other day. We were one day going to author the definitive photograding system for GB coins types together, but that's a big job and we never got around to it yet. The first link is a little general, but shows a good penny scale. Chris

    Query about the Forum

Maybe I should start an entirely German discussion area! You come straight to me with any more annoyances Olli. Chris

    Roman Gold Soldius Opinions!

There is a token offering of Roman coins on the site, here: http://www.predecimal.com/forsale/romanforsale1.htm And a Roman coin book here: http://www.predecimal.com/books/ccromanframed.htm But you're right, no gold coins I'm afraid, because basically I don't know enough about them to be able to buy and sell them efficiently. So I don't know anything about the coins you have linked to, except that the second one is of a vastly superior grade to the ebay coin. I would not expect the ebay 'Fine' example to fetch anywhere near that 'EF' second one, but I really don't know about Roman gold trends. Chris Perkins www.predecimal.com

I would assume a 'George III 1788 Spade Ace Guinea'

    Query about the Forum

It's a double arrow fo me too. I run it! Aha, worked it out.....It's because there is one or more forum within that forum area (the ad forum about the collectors coins book) So you get a double arrow to show that there are more areas within. Alles Klar? Chris
