Yes, it does actually. Here's a not very good scan. -
New Purchase
Chris Perkins replied to Hussulo's topic in British Coin Related Discussions & Enquiries
That's a very rare thing! Can you email me a good size picture of it. It's looking like I'll be including some info on errors in the next CCGB. Love to use that picture, as I only have obverse brockage pictures so far. The only brockage I have is an obverse of a fake GIII halfpenny. -
Igor the Hedgehog
Chris Perkins replied to Chris Perkins's topic in Nothing whatsoever to do with coins area!
I know you've all been aching to see a little picture of Igor! Here's one, taken today at about 11.30GMT. He's asleep in his little nest-like pile of hay that he made. He still can't walk properly and keeps falling over but less than before, because I think he has learned to walk a little better with his disability. We think he may also be deaf as you can bang things and click your fingers behind his back and he never looks or responds in any way. The deafness made me think that perhaps he has a problem with hs ears that affects his sense of balance. He sleeps a lot, sometimes including nights for 2 days in a row. When he does wake in the night he's usually hungry and eats well when he props himself up on the side of his enclosure to stop him falling on his side. It's difficult to get him to drink because he usually ends up bathing in the suacer of water before he gets a chance to drink much! So instead we make sure his food is well drenched in water (mineral water of course, I wouldn't give Igor tap water!) -

I have such a mass of folders, files and things to do, I can't remember much these days. -

Good point. Do you by any chance have the path saved where they were? Because they shouldn't have moved. I can't find where I put them! -

If you've been trying in the last 10 mins, it's because I've been playing around trying to get something to work! It will normally be 100% reliable and fast. -
1861 halfpenny 1 over lower 1 in date?
Chris Perkins replied to Coins4u's topic in British Coin Related Discussions & Enquiries
I'm going to move this until it becomes confirmed. Didn't we have this one before, and the general opinion was that it was a die fault rather than an underlying '1'? Or perhaps I'm thinking of another variety.... No, it's in CCGB2007 already as 'reported on the forum'. -
The Queen's Visit to the USA

Yes, generally, you can't really fault Her Maj can you. You could probably pick holes in the British monarchical system, but as a public fugure she really keeps her nose clean. I think a lot of people will loose respect for the British Monarchy once she's gone. Charles is basically a nice chap, but does sometimes upset entire minorities (much like his father). And William is no doubt also a nice young man, but his antics, though not as stupid as his brothers do cast a bit of a shadow. He is very popular though. Here in Germany they always talk about skipping Charles and moving straight to "Kaiser William" (they don't call him that!), which I think's a bit unfair. Charles should be given a turn, he was born to be a King. If his mum lives as long as her mum, he probably won't get long anyway! -
Igor the Hedgehog

Yes, I'd thought of that too, in which case he may make a bit of a recovery by himself if he's properly nurished etc, just like humans do. Mind you, if he did have an injury there is no external sign of one. If it's WHSmith disease then he won't make a recovery and it'll get slowly worse! We hope for the best. He's sleeping now, which is of course normal for hedgehogs during the day. -

He's alive and breathing, as you are Peter. He eats, drinks and shits, as you do Peter. But as he would never wish any harm on another mammal that makes him a better creature than you! -
Igor the Hedgehog

Hmmm, I've read about this thing called 'Wobbly Hedgehog Syndrome' or WHS (who also buy my books!) that is similar to multiple sclerosis in humans. A problem with the nervous system that seems to start with the back legs and spread until the poor thing can't move at all :-( His back legs do often get tangled, and if you don't hold him when he eats he just falls over or sort of hobbles/rocks around in circles. There are other things that can cause hedgehogs to act a bit drunk, but from what I've read and compared with his symptoms, it doesn't really look good. WHS is not curable. He also seems to have trouble swallowing and eats bits of meat but then they fall out of the left side of his mouth. Also, his left eye never opens and his head is always curled round to the right. If the antibiotics don't do fix Igor, then I don't think he'll ever be able to fend for himself. -

No, I was expecting to, especially after the 2 injections, the drops and of course the doc's time! I went and asked the nice Fraeulein how much I owed and she said if the dr didn't send me out with a bill, then nothing. Perhaps we'll end up paying something next week. I really don't mind as I feel responsible for the little fella now. -
All of the different types are illustrated in 'Check Your Change', which is illustrated in the top area of the forum and available from Early June.

Looks alright to me AU58 seems well graded enough and the 'A' is for 'About'. Why do you think that is isn't uncirculated?

I think the Yo* might be so that it's easy to tell the listings that are from this seller.

I wasn't exactly overwhelmed, so most of the above is now on ebay. (user chrisperkins)

Help with "Extremely rare" SOVEREIGN
Chris Perkins replied to NumisMattist's topic in British Coin Related Discussions & Enquiries
Very well done NumisMattist. -
You're just being naive! They are real coins, probably photos stolen from other listings (that has happened to me quite a bit). Once the buyers have sent all the money, he simply withdraws it from paypal and then does a runner. He probably used a stolen credit card to verify his paypal account, so they will have trouble getting the money back for the buyers, who won't receive anything. I bet the seller is really in China.

Cars and Automotive

I always fancied a go in a TR8 (or TR7 with a V8). You can bore those Rover V8 engines and change the crank and make them over 5 litres! -

In the 70's someone put a Merlin engline in a Rolls Royce Car! Did you ever read about that? -

The old Jensen Contraceptor! Someone I know had one of those when they were new and it blew up (well agressively caught fire) on a long stretch of A road. Probably electrical too. My dad had a Daimler 250 V8 (1969) and sold that way too cheaply before I passed my driving test! Mind you, it was brown. This is the website of a good friend of mine: http://www.dovercourtrollsroyce.com/ The blue Silver Shadow top left on the cars page was nearly mine but I decided to go for one less lairly with less mileage and a wee bit newer. -

You're right, so I've split this off the coin related topic that it ruined! Have a look at the RMA these people are offering for sale: http://www.richard-shrive-cars.co.uk/ The Silver Shadow II's are the last of the real R-R's in my opinion. In 1980 when the Spirit came along they ended up with massive square headlights and looked like gigantic Ladas (apart from the Corniche which stayed good looking until the mid 90's)! Then after that they went all foreign, so they don't count even though they are also wonderful machines! SSII's for breaking are around £2k. Tatty but working examples are about £5k. Better low mileage examples with full service histories can go right up to £15k, but those kinds of prices are not often asked. On one hand it's not a lot of money for such massive well specced cars, but it helps if you know where to get cheap parts and specialist labour for them because that can be a killer! The previous owner spent £1500 on mine just freeing up the brakes after the car had been standing for some years! The heater/air con had also stopped working, so had the cruise control and the motor had seized that drives the headlamp wipers. It's a big problem with old cars in general but especially with complicated ones....They need to have regular use or things stop working. So when I get it back to Germany, I shall try my very best to use it every day. -

I heard they can be a pig, especially with the original alloy/cast engines. That's what it's all about though, you drive around in it because it makes you feel good, and it doesn't matter what it costs to keep it going! I've recently acquired a 45,000 mile 1980 Rolls Royce Silver Shadow II. It's in England at the moment, a nice original car. I'm driving it to Germany in June. -

Absolutely, assuming they are removed from the car! Have you got a '77 Stag? Did you know I grew up with Triumphs and had 15 of them over a very short space of time? Never had a Stag though.
