  1. My first thoughts were also that the surfaces looked grainy and I though 'fake from China' and answered no to all options.
  2. I didn't mean to be so negative. It looks like they've be stored somewhere damp, and verdigris has spread onto most of them.
  3. If I were you I'd bury them about where you found the other one in the other post!
  4. No, I didn't get that I don't think. I know that all VAT on ebay listings will be at the Luxemburg rate of 15% from now on.
  5. I think you should lobby the Irish and UK parliaments Josie and force them to make ownership of my book compulsary for every man woman and child in the British Isles! (I don't think that would be very easy, but it would certainly make me very rich! I'll give you 10% if you suceed)
  6. What changes are they?
  7. I wish I could get a TV appearance for the book! Such things are difficult though. I am talking to Bertrams books, who are big in the industry. A lady there that I met at the Frankfurt bookfair really seems to want to help and she is giving me tips on book promotion and at the moment on how to create an Advance Information sheet to distribute to book sellers.
  8. Try to register now. There was a banned IP address begining the same as yours, but that shouldn't have stopped you.
  9. Where are you Melody? What email address to you use (just the last bit)? It could be that your IP address has been banned because it has been previously used to spam. Ditto your email account.
  10. I have mentioned in it about fake £1 coins but I have not gone into great details or listed the known types.
  11. Just as a quick aside German....How big are you? I may have some previous business partners in St Petersburg and you could perhaps pay them a little visit for me to remind them in a friendly and yet persuasive manner about the money they owe me! Only joking. And a very warm welcome to another decent Russian....that's 2 so far!
  12. I think you may be right. There are also pitfalls with selling things on your own website. Getting traffic to it is the first one. Getting people to trust what they see and spend money is the second problem. Making sure that money is actually real and belongs to them is another potential hassle. I do it pretty successfully with my accessories and coins, but I do find the books go better on ebay. I think the best thing ebay could do would be to setup a proper customer support dept. That would persuade a lot of people to stay and even list more things.
  13. Falls on deaf ears. I have emailed of course, but no doubt I'll simply get an automated response quoting their user policy on blah blah. There will be no apology and when I re-list the items it'll probably happen again! I've written to a solicitor that has dealt with improper auction removal before.
  14. eBay, again, have amazed me with their absolutely useless automated bloody everythings! Yesterday all of my listings were removed, and I was banned for infringing copyright by selling the e-Book versions of the titles: British and Irish Campaign Medals - A Price Guide England's Striking History Both are of course Rotographic titles and both belong 100% to me!! My own father is even the author of the medal book, which features the late Uncle William on the front cover, and my own Granddad on page 3! Exactly who do eBay think they belong to?? Of course, I can't phone because ebay is the only multi national that doesn't actually have a phone number. In fact, they don't actually care about their customers. They are clearly just a massive money making enterprise, happy to take take take and never give anything in return, let alone provide a proper call centre (even one in India would do!) So, I loose sales and reputation because of their error. And I wanted to list quite a bit this week in order to have a bit of a clear out. Do you think I have a legal claim against them?
  15. For bronze Freeman is the book, but for copper collectors you can't be without a Peck.
  16. There is a gold '65 penny listed in CCGB2007, it was in the earlier editions and had been included for years. It's in the proof section (although it isn't a proof) and is probably the same coin. It's listed at £2500, which is obviously too cheap now.
  17. Yes we're all absolutely bonkers here, but if you're a spam bot you can find somewhere else to spam Twentygirl.
  18. It's an animated gif. There are shareware programmes out there that you can use to create animated gifs. Slightly restricted because gifs can only be a max of 256 colours.
  19. I don't suppose there would be much opposition to that, but we must remember that there are under 18's that frequent this place. I'll see if I can lengthen the edit time.
  20. Thanks, yes that's something to add. And I'll change the Latin. Has anyone seen Kuhli around anywhere, on other forums perhaps? He hasn't answered my email and hasn't been here for a while. I want to arrange with him the sending of a small fee for the groundwork done on what will become Check your Change.
  21. The time limit is very short. It's so that you can post something, then check it for errors, edit it and save it, literally straight away. This is so that whatever is said is set in stone and cannot be changed at a later date, so that we can all laugh at you if you say something stupid, and also so that we can all hate you if you say something very nasty indeed (not that you would of course). Is it possible that you started editing within the time limit and the time limit expired while you were still doing it? Next time, try to edit quickly and see how it is. If there's something that needs changing, let me know. It's also important that the info kept on here is accurate.
  22. I saw a controversial chemical somewhere that can be applied to re tone coins. Also, experiment holding the coin in a clean flame (i.e gas) as this instantly oxidizes the coin, but is usually quite crap because it always turn out un-even. I used to do this ith coins as a kid.
  23. £30 per transaction over my agreed overdraft!!! Swines, banks are. I don't know the original source of the letter, I think it was the BBC somewhere. Over here in Germany they never charge more than EUR10.00 for things like that. And parking tickets in Chemnitz are laughable. I park where I like because I know if I get caught it'll cost me about £3.50! I got a ticket London for being parked outside a friends house with 2 wheels on the pavement (not a yellow line) and that cost £40! We are per capita richer in the UK than in Germany, but the things you get charged in merry old England, particularly the 2 examples above are not proportionate.
  24. On the 12th and 13th of December Barclays Bank charged me 2x £30 per transaction beyond my overdraft limit. I hadn't kept an eye on the account. I got dad to pay some cash in and that sorted it. I was quite pissed about the £60 charge. So I looked online and apparently there has been quite a bit of publicity about bank charges recently. I found a very official looking letter template that cited other cases of companies taking fees that were not proportionate to actual costs. So I sent them this letter with a threat of account closure and court action if the money was not returned. And hey presto, £60 hit my account today! They don't want court hassle, so refunding is much easier. So, if you're annoyed about bank charges, claim them back! PM me if you want to the the letter used. Unbelievably effective I thought.
  25. Isn't the Queen already head of the French state, what with her pedigree and the lack of French nobles since the revolution?
