  1. I don't want it, so you can do what you like with it!
  2. It isn't British, so I'll move it. Do a search on google for Maria Theresa Thaler and you'll find all you need.
  3. I'll go to double face value, but £5 is too much.
  4. I'd be interested in purchasing your fake collection, even for a little more than face value.
  5. Your first post already gave me that idea! The problem with them is that they cause coins to tone and dis-colour, or in a worst case scenario the coins get bronze disease and other corrosion. There probably is some kind of modern card that would do the job better, I'll have to see. It would be a good idea to lauch a range of folders with a new book I'm working an about decimals.
  6. They're aren't any as far as I know. Whitman are still going, you could ask them what range they did/do.
  7. No, they are refering to the 25p crown, the first of which appeared in 1972, ten years before the 20p became a main denomination.
  8. Reading all that gushy 'appology accepted, oh what a gentleman' flanel after the offenders appology makes me wonder if the whole coin world has gone far too PC (It's no wonder Bush got re-elected, do Americans always believe everything they're told??). String him up by his danglies, if someone wants to accidentally rainbow tone a coin and then re-sell it it's too late to appologise. Ban him from the CU forum, get him kicked off eBay, deposit him in Siberia!
  9. I'd like to see them! I'll even give you good pounds for them.
  10. I do have a couple of Prussian Napoleonic 100 year anniversary coins (1913). One is the 2 mark the other is the 5. Those are UNC and £14 and £20 respectively. £30 the pair to you!
  11. In case this is of interest to anyone (Oli perhaps, at least) I've recently started listing some German coins on the BETA version of the website, which will go live soon. See them here: http://www.predecimal.com/shop/index.php?c...le-german-coins I have others too, which will appear soon.
  12. I've approved you Ozgirl. Probably not a good idea to open it, but other that that I don't know how you're going to find out the dates! In the 60's they came in canvass kind of bags, so it should be earlier....Although if they are Australian I don't know how they packed them.
  13. I was hoping you'd come along Dave!
  14. I'm sure I've seen a picture of one of those somewhere, I don't know where. The style is modern, but of course the RM moved away from London in '68 so it should be older than that. I think that Britannia looks like a geezer, with legs spread, hammering a coin. Not very flattering is it.
  15. I was unlucky the first 2 times on my driving test in cousin Victor's newish Fiesta. The first time was mainly because the Police had my provisional driving licence at the time, but that's another story! The 2nd time I had the same examiner and I'm sure he remembered and failed me again. I passed on the 3rd go in my 1974 Triumph Toldeo. You could coast that thing all day, and unlike screaming modern cars the re-engagement never made a sound!
  16. British errors tend to usually go for around £20 - £80. This is an interesting one, so I've bought it (paid with paypal). It all depends on how much someone is willing to pay for it, there is no other measure with errors.
  17. I always use forumancientcoins.com ( I thik that's the URL). I know the proprietor, as he buys books from me. Then there's also wildwinds.com that's good too. Both sites have a huge database of coins and images. For the Sear books, do a search on Amazon, they have them.
  18. That's wierd isn't it! The outer part seems to have been struck with the 50p machine! Errors are not that common, but they do happen. I've seen coins in the wrong metals, struck on the wrong flan, with bits missing etc. I'd offer you £60 for the £2 you have. I think that's very fair, but let me have firt priority if you get any other offers.
  19. Sorry, I was referring to the Base metal book! The silver book doesn't refer to Allegorical reverses much, although I suspect if you find one that isn't listed it'll be around about the same value as any godess type. To be sure, you'll nead the Sear range of books, published by Spink.
  20. Don't forget that in the Books where 'Allegorical types' is stated, the coin could have any one of a number of reverses as features on page 4 and 5. I don't think I've found one that isn't covered yet in the books. Most of the allegorical types are worth about the same.
  21. They absolutely are, not that I'm saying Oli isn't a clever stick. How on earth is it possible that each year, higher than ever numbers of the proletariat are able to get A Levels until they come out of their ears and Degrees in tricky subjects such as Leisure and Tourism? People can't actually be getting on average cleverer, can they, at such an alarming speed?
  22. Thanks, I knew about those I think. The Amazon reviews are on my books, but I suppose that helps too!
  23. Do I? Are there places that talk of predecimal.com? I'd be interested to hear where my reputation comes from.
  24. And the way he bids up in increments of £10 makes it look like he wanted the get the most out of the current high bidder at the time!
