  1. He's extremely well known for peddling fakes. Mike Vosper has a few bandits listed on his home page as a warning , ace antiques is one of them. If you email details of rogue sellers to mike he will add more to his website.
  2. It even had a little R stamped in the upper left quadrant. Bet a few hundred people reported it.

  4. Thanks. Its one of those dodgy Danbury mint coins with the Coa. I loathe them but it was cheap so i bought it. Not sure what the deposits were it was like a green crust that broke off in bits. Didn't seem like verdigris. Wonder if it was part of the Brussels hoard perhaps.
  5. Picked this up cheap as it had heavy green deposits on the R in Henric and N in On. Managed with distilled water and toothpick to flake it off. Henry III Long cross penny Class 5c2. c.1253 -1256 Ad Ricard at London mint.
  6. I've been melting better than that for jewellery projects.
  7. Good prices. I paid £40 for the pair about 10 years ago. Snap em up!
  8. Try here if you don't mind a pre owned copy. https://www.abebooks.co.uk/book-search/title/english-hammered-coinage/author/north-j-j/used/
  9. Good stuff. Always nice to see one get pulled. Not coin related but still fraud. This guy thinks he's the new billy and charley (but he's crap at it) 😃 I've been watching him for months now knocking out terrible supposed ancient artifacts. Looks like he's making them in tin/ pewter. Feel free to report his "finds" https://www.ebay.co.uk/sch/skali00/m.html?item=183184663032
  10. Who ever it was wasn't very good at spotting a fake. I've just glanced at they're previous posts. 3 coins they posted were fake. I really do not believe that coin was hoarded away in a tin. Perhaps they felt the old tin story would give it some false provenance but for what reason i don't know.
  11. I think a lot of the 1 time or guest posters who come on here out of the blue asking for advice on a coins authenticity or value with an eBay link are the actual sellers trying to draw attention to their lots. This guy was probably trying to do a similar thing and possibly pass it off to somebody on here. I just hope nobody fell for it.
  12. Really bad looking thing. Hideous! http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/King-Charles-1st-silver-hammered-Three-Pence-Coin-Very-Rare-Collectable/173267725529
  13. If he did i hope nobody from here bought it after pming him..🤤 That's one bad egg to have in the nest.
  14. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Collectable-King-Henry-VI-Groat-1422-30-Mint-Mark-Pierced-Cross-Calais/123066706331 Another of those heart shape marked replica coins. Slight variation as its on the right on this one.
  15. Congratulations. Good find! I take the occasional gamble myself on mixed lots but I've not had much luck. I usually come worse off. It's good to hear a success story. One in a million that. Treasure it. Stu.
  16. I love crayons but i couldn't eat a whole one 😆
  17. Why does the toning not match on both pictures? Seems odd. It's as if they were taken by different camera's. If it's true he's very very lucky !
  18. Great news Stu. Well done. Keep us posted on the book , i am always on the lookout for quality books about Plantagenet coinage.
  19. Both Canterbury Long cross pennies. Ones by Robert the others Nichole. Both are later ones with sceptre. Try here for more information. They have a rough price list on there. http://www.henry3.com
  20. It does look new yes i agree. I couldn't say if it was fake though from the image. I suppose if it was in circulation not long before it got lost it could be like that. I think they were the accepted equivalent of a groat when whole so the half would be half groat.
  21. Nice work frank ! What made me think she was lying is that she said it was bent and her BF straightened it. There is no sign it was ever creased plus pewter tends to break when creased. Thats what made me think it was a crook , not sure why that was included in the description.
  22. The groat is Henry VII ( Canterbury mint ) the cut halfs a double patard of charles the bold.
  23. Has been told by people it's fake but isn't convinced! The spiels hilarious. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/HAMMERED-ELIZABETH-1-SILVER-SIXPENCE-FROM-THE-YEAR-1562-TUDOR-MINT-MARK-PHEON/253532308810
  24. http://www.henry3.com/norwich---3a-to-3ab.html Pretty certain it's the second coin down on the list. OR ligated , pellet in the Z.
  25. The long cross is a class 3a1. Quite rare as not many were found in the Brussels hoard apparently (only 5) of that type. Information on the link i posted above. Stu.
