? Remember those. Me dad spent more time fiddling about pulling out snapped cassette tapes and cleaning the heads than he did watching movies.

So looking forward to series 3. I've been a fan since episode 1. The Jimmy Saville badge still cracks me up, his face ?

Magnet on a rope ?. Love it. I started off in that era. Had an old c scope. I got more iron than the scrapman ?. Gave it up in the end and started again in 2010 but stopped last year due to lack of permissions. People keep saying to me take it down the river or canals but as i remind them its all private land somebody owns it and if caught i stand to lose my entire collection so not worth it. Bloody hard getting permissions here , my scouse accent does me no good at all in north east lancs either.

I don't mind doing the short cross coins honestly. I often buy unresearched ones just to do the IDs. He does have some stuff though. Truly envious of some of his short cross coins. Keep posting em up i never tire of looking at them. ?

Sorry couldn't resist. As follows Top left a John coin. Kings lynn mint. (LENE) only open during Johns recoinage. Very rare mint. Top right is Henry II or Richard. Moneyer Everard which would make it York mint. Left second down is Henry III Roger Canterbury. Third left is a another Henry III. Walter possibly the moneyer. Third down right is a henry III longcross of Nicole London. The rest are beyond me unfortunately. I couldn't be certain of those ones.
-
I know. It didn't say that unfortunately but i believe it to be a genuine mistake. I think he's listed the wrong coin under the wrong listing. He must have two of the same coin as the one he advertised and the one i received were definitely different coins in respect of grades i mean as the pictures prove.

I will look these over proper tommorow Gaz and feedback what i find out. ?

John class 5b1 Lukas Winchester (Lvkas.on.winc) I can make out _V_AS .ON._INC so that must be who it is. Pretty sure it is matey. Nice find?

It would. I have a 5c of this moneyer that has a huge striking crack almost all the way through it. This could be a mule as according to my book this moneyer did not strike until 5c. It may be a 5b3 obv with a 5c rev or its a straight class 5c and the line gouge below the eyes is throwing me. Think its a 5c for sure. Nice find. ?
-
John class 5b3? Moneyer Walter at London. Notice the eyes. Both made with a broken punch. Definitely 5b3 characteristic.

Point taken lol. Rare occurrence for me this. I am usually a happy chappie with my purchases. I'll pick up a few at the PO tommorow to be on the safe side though..?
-
Lidl lol. What a cheek!! I will for now delay collecting Romans i think. I seem to have the luck of the emperor's when purchasing them though, bad things happen! It must be an omen of some sort...? I'll put the refund towards something else to console my sorrows i think...perhaps another short cross ? It's all a learning curve i guess , if we use eBay as much as we do its to be expected if a few eggs out the dozen end up broken so to speak.

Nice coin by the way. I hope you sort your DNR out . I've examined my DNR sellers feedback and noticed he's got a neg for not sending an item which he went on to sell the following month later at a higher cost so i suspect thats the motive behind his actions and that he'll relist it once the dust settles.
-
I assume he still had it as it's still listed on his website. I take it he did not realise i was haggling over that coin though and sent the lower grade one. He mentioned something about too many trajans spoil the broth which i took to mean he had lots of trajans and had sent the wrong one. I requested the refund rather than mess about any further exchanging prices over the actual coin i wanted. My luck & patience with Roman coins has run out i am afraid.
-
It was a Trajan coin. I thought I'd dip my toes in the water once more with them. Again it's gone pete tong. I've had nothing but bad luck with Roman coins. He appears to have listed the coin incorrectly or something. Here is the coin i bought , not at that price though, it was a BIN haggle. https://manor-coins.co.uk/product/r25-roman-imperial-high-grade-ar-denarius-trajan-98-117ad/ But here is what i recieved. I've settled for a full refund rather than try to get the coin advertised. Like you say it's probably a mistake on his behalf. I've purchased two coins off eBay recently , this is one and the others not arrived , the sellers not providing any information. Supposed to be sent 1st class recorded, no coin , no tracking and no comms. Had to put in a DNR which he hasn't responded to yet. ?

I got caught out today on the old switcheroo via eBay. Manor coins. Sent me a totally different grade coin to the one he listed. He's agreed a full refund. Bloody annoying though as I've got to go out and buy a padded envelope now and trek upto the PO to send it. The ups n downs of eBay!
-
Good result. Thanks again ! ?
-
Thank you. I fear you may get a GFY but thanks for trying. He's put too much effort into that scam to back down but I'll cross my fingers. Good luck. I stand corrected. Well done. It's gone!
-
I suppose it could do ? , would be an accurate representation. It's Westair Reproductions Limited.
-
I know. He's gone to a lot of trouble to research it and weigh it yet he omits the fact its a pewter lump. Dishonest to the core.
-
He knows a lot about this "coin" but fails to mention the huge WRL stamp slap bang in the middle of it! https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/King-John-short-cross-penny-cross-Pommee-type-moneyer-SIMON-on-Canterbury/132389616191

Most definitely lol. Terrible one too. Found in grandads things! That old chesnut. Unfortunately with 2 hrs to go that buggers found it's self a new owner.
-
No worries lol. I am just getting ready for bed now meself. ?
-
Your welcome Gaz. You've got some really good short cross coins. You get stuck with anymore just post em up. ?

Here is a reasonable book for identification. I started out with this book many years ago. Its great value for money at under £10 https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/aw/d/1902040732/ref=mp_s_a_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1510006265&sr=8-1&pi=AC_SX236_SY340_FMwebp_QL65&keywords=short+cross+coinage&dpPl=1&dpID=41AmhXmeH5L&ref=plSrch
