London Mint Edward 1 penny
Ukstu replied to JimmyMercia's topic in British Coin Related Discussions & Enquiries
Hi Welcome Jim Yes it looks like an Edward Ist Longcross penny. London mint. I struggle to classify these coins into there correct classes so i won't attempt that. Perhaps someone else can. Here's some further reading that may help you on your quest. http://www.ukdfd.co.uk/pages/edwardian-Pennies/Edwardian%20Pennies%20P1.htm Regards Stu. -
Congratulations !

Hi. I am looking for the above 1d to complete the set. Fine or AVF or VF if possible. If anyones got one for sale or can hook me up I'd be most appreciative. Thank you. Stuart.

Am actually getting a little concerned over this character now. His facebook page doesn't tie up with Octavian Coins facebook page. I cannot picture that guy being behind Octavian coins facebook page. The Octavian coins facebook page has alot of foreign people as friends where as this Paul Anderson guy doesn't look like he'd know all those people also i cannot find a link between the two on FB. Well dodgy this. Its looking like some kind of ID theft or scam.
-
According to Spink its Class 11a. ?
-
So if that's dodgy then so is he lol. According to his Facebook he's worked for Jessops as well. He's got something to do with Redditch football club or the academy at there. He's got a Facebook page under Octavian coins also. Sounds like a bit of a walter mitty character.

So much has changed there. A lot of buildings where pulled down and new ones went up in the lead up to the capital of culture thing. The docklands area has had a lot of work done on it and attracted a lot of businesses to it mostly eateries and trendy bars but good for a quiet night out.

I moved in 2013 up to East Lancashire. Got full custody of my kids and decided to move to hopefully better their futures. Still keep in touch with friends and family there but haven't ventured back.

Yeah that's him. Neither of his websites are active. Octavian coins is or was trading from this address : 14 kingfisher walk Redditch, B97 7PX.
-
I grew up in Liverpool. Lived there 40 years. Never visited Garstang Museum though. Generally all museum coins are cleaned and preserved for display purposes.
-
I know. I did some background checking on him seeing as he threatened me. His names Paul Anderson. He seems to have been trading under the names of Romeos Romans & Octavian Coins which is a company based in Redditch Worchester. I've got his home adddress ' business address & phone numbers in case he trys to find me. Fancies himself as a marathon runner according to his facebook. Why he'd ruin his reputation in numistimatics circles for a couple of hundred quid flogging a fake coin is beyond me. Hard times!

Thanks Jerry. I didn't realise it was the same guy. He's obviously since damaged the coin to cover up the WRL stamp so he could again attempt to try and sell it on. What a low life eh! Supposedly a coin dealer judging by his ebay user name , crook more like it. He needs blacklisting.
-
Thanks. I think i will. Out of order that and technically a threat.
-
I reported it to ebay and emailed him back after the CNGAF response. His response was I will find you lets see if you talk to me like that face to face. He's lucky i didn't report him to the police as well the scumbag.
-
Emailed him telling him its a WRL coin. The response was C.N.G.A.F. Please can somebody pass this seller's details on to CCF. Thanks.
-
Oh dear. Another dodgy WRL Edward I groat. Dented apparently right on the WRL stamp. How convenient ! http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/182615282542

Its either a gold double crown or crown of charles 1st. The double crown has an X to the right of charles portrait and the crown has a V to the right of the portrait. The Mintmark looks to be Cross Calvary which would date it to 1625-1626 AD . Great find. ?

You need to decrease the size of your images to under 0.49mb. Try using a program that allows you to downsize the quality of your images then upload them. ?

Agreed. It annoys me when i browse Celtic coins and it comes up with loads of £1 coins with the Celtic design on them. You have to be specific in your searches but in some cases it doesn't always work.
-
Ebays not bad if you know your stuff. You need good reference guides first so you know your not overpaying for coins but in some cases stuff like that goes out the window if its a really sort after coin your after. Don't bid on anything thats got blurry pictures. Be picky and selective about what you bid on. Use a sniper also to drop your bids in. Never bother with ebay on a Sunday. Its great the rest of the week but Sundays are stupid. Seems to be people without a clue of a coins value on Sundays running up the prices and paying silly money for coins. Sunday is definitely a sellers market on ebay. I avoid it at all costs on Sundays. I mainly use ebay for buying my coins and a few dealer's when they get fresh stock. I am thinking of trying some of the online auction houses soon , if anyones got any recommendations or tips on using them I'd be most appreciative. Also anyone who sells coins feel free to PM me your website details so i can browse your stock. Thanks.

Good work. I actually saw that coin and recognised instantly what it was meant to be but missed the WRL stamp. Glad to see that taken down. Well done ?
