-

-

have ha;f a dozen coins i'd like to get slabbed by ngc, was waiting for the office to open at spinks london but alas not yet, would love to get this half crown slabbed and the crown
-
would be interesting to know how they tone the silver like that
-
Fist half decent coin fro a while, GOLDWINE on CA (Canterbury) i think its Richard I, seems to be on the point of change over into John, a more solid id would be welcome, thanks in advance, a very nice coin really, solid, bit of a wavy flan with some toning, came from some really soft sandy soil,
-
which is the moneyer goldwine ?
-
why is that ? because people dont like, slabs or ngc or even spinks
-
i bought many of these a few years, carefully watching thinking they might go up in price a wee bit, had scan on ebay and you can pick them up for less than £20 ???? except for the nations of the crown (which can be had for half the price when they were issued,) and the 1983, maybe a few hundred years time and they might be collectible , the state of the decimal coin market must be flat as a pancake ? luckily i got out of the modern silver proof royal mint stuff pretty quick and didnt pour too much money into them, not that coin collecting comes down to how much you make on it
-
this deep proof like business refers to bu coins ? and they are dpl because of the new dies and they are bu or can you find dpl in coins intended for circulation ?? or they have had some finishing done to the dies ? because i got the silver ironside penny for this year and although it was bu it has proof like lettering and crown, when i asked the rm they said they were bu, so are they called dpl ?

-
no, was a technique where a thin sheet of gold was rolled flat onto silver, like gold plating https://www.jewelryshoppingguide.com/what-is-rolled-gold/
-
rob how were they gilt, is like gold plating ? thanks for your replies
-
i'm sure i have an Edward VII with the streaks, will have a look later if i get time
-
seems to be a vast disparity between gold colour and amount of gold between the ebay one and this one on Ingrams, not that i would ever buy form them again https://www.ringramcoins.com/coins/farthings/farthing-19260.html
