a l;otof coins have become overpriced in my humble opinion, where others have hardly any resale value -
the variation of tolerences of mass production are going to be epic with a billion of 2016 and 2017 each being produced ,
-
your looking around 1.1 ish g for late sexon pennies, henry III voided longcross around 1.3 g
-
yes the blanks are round, the edges are made by a collar when the coin is struck
-
i think a lot of it is to do with variation of tolerances during the striking process coupled with mass production
-
looks like it is scratched too

i noticed this slabbed half crown, whats with the tarnish, etc, is it a victim of mint wiping ? http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/1902-Great-Britain-Silver-1-2-Half-Crown-PROOF-Coin-NGC-PF-63-MATTE-KM-802-/361941738874?hash=item544568a57a:g:5j8AAOSwLnBX5YEP

wow, impressive, is this indicative of different dies being used then ? with a billion 2016'2 i should imagine they got through a few dies , and the coins are getting ropey

Cupro Nickle Crowns/Half Crowns
craigy posted a topic in British Coin Related Discussions & Enquiries
Hi All, the saga of the 1953 Half crown goes on, i now have a copy of Davis book, is there any in depth further reading on the George VI/Elizabeth II Cupro nickle coins ? ,the i to the bead is a common one, i now have the plastic set, where the I points to a space, this i believe is davis 1a, from what i can see there is no vip frosted issue listed for the 1953 vip proof coins other than the crown and in the frosted proof is rare and , same with spinks, now davis says that with the crown vip proof were frosted, so does that make this crown a VIP Proof ? and what about about the frosted shillings and 6d i picked up from this set, the penny and half penny also show some degree of frosting, i'm now confused more than ever, and the half crown i bought for 7 quid is frosted but no mention of them in davis or spinks, they mention matte proof in the other denominations for this set, has this issue not been properly looked into yet ? -
yup the fakes are going for £40 and they are sold as copies, unreal

my favorite bust after George VI's, but then i like Anne's too lol so does my shilling show the signs of the mint wiping, just scanning the net about the practice now, the shilling is nice in the hand, (gloved hand that is) with some hints of rainbow toning that just about shows in the picture
