The video in the link worked fortunately. My crystal ball broke and I didn't see it coming lol. -

I'm not so sure, but I can't put my finger on why. I guess it's the divvy in me. Aliexpress do stock some extremely good repros though. https://www.aliexpress.com/item/Bi-metallic-2015-2-POUND-The-Final-Issue-IRB-RARE-Replica-UK-commemorative-coin/32312450153.html -

I agree it looks a little odd, but that said, the detail looks very good on the coin which in my experience isn't usually the case with fakes. Under the Queen's head it should have IRB (or less likely for 2015, JC). The Edge inscription should be "Standing on the shoulders of giants", and should be centred well, not offset to either side. The reverse of this coin should have all cogs well formed and detailed. In forgeries, the cogs appear somewhat more rounded and less defined, and the design in the centre circle is normally far less detailed than that displayed by the genuine coin. The forgeries dated 2015 are considerably better than their earlier counterparts, and actually get much closer to the correct weight, so weighing it possibly wont help. Seeing decent resolution images of obverse, reverse and edge inscription would definitely be better than a video. -
I took a whole dump when I clocked the price, but then they are never really "affordable" to me anyway

Paddington 50p

The Royal Mint says the coins won't be released into circulation, and to get your hands on one will cost £10. You can buy them direct from the Mint. Whoopee, another worthless piece of metal being touted as a coin. -

Isn't there a similar variation on the 1911 half penny? -
Is the bottom falling out of the Penny market ?

I was definitely too young to appreciate that type at the time. -
Is the bottom falling out of the Penny market ?
Unwilling Numismatist replied to secret santa's topic in British Coin Related Discussions & Enquiries
I think that's a reference to thrupenny bits, but it might be a cryptic clue instead. My F164A went for 120, several years ago (2011) these were well up at 500+, so the market is either shrinking or technology is allowing people to see things more clearly, thus meaning more are being found. I wouldn't go flogging all your penny collections just yet, fearing they'll be worthless - so many people these days are doing the coin-hunt and collecting 50ps, £2 etc that even if 3% go on to other coins it should be enough to keep the hobby very much alive and well. -
Paddington 50p

I find myself being very selective these days with regards to the "commemorative" market. Some for sure are worthy of the moniker, but many are just s***e. Harry and Megans' £5 looked like it was done by Stevie Wonder, and when compared with pretty much anything from here http://www.predecimal.com/forum/topic/9647-lets-see-your-toned-english-milled-silver/?do=findComment&comment=120304 you can see just how sad the modern coins really are, they don't seem to try anymore. Paddington (other than being a station and a bear from a story) really do nothing for me, much like the B.Potter coins - they're a tick in the box and that is it. It would be much less sad if these "currency" coins actually made it onto the streets occasionally. So far I have only received 2 of the whole of 2017 currency coins - 1 Potter 50p and 1 Isaac Newton. There are many more that "should" be in circulation including a set of £2 coins, 5 50p's and all of the normal coinage. We're well into 2018 with no sign of any of this years either and there are 26 x 10p's as well as a plethora of other coinage being minted. At this rate it will be 100% impossible to collect any given year by checking change. -

Noticed it a few days ago ... "The listing you’re looking for is no longer available. Check out this similar item we found for you." erm No ebay, I want to see the "original sold listing" which I went to the trouble of finding, not be shown something completely different.

I did ok on my penny It cost me fk all so everything over zilch was a complete bonus. Given the trend of the last few years I'd say it was ok at 120. A shame i didn't bid on a couple of the mixed lots, what I was prepared to pay was well over what they went for so I need to organise myself better for next time! -
Sidmouth antique centre - coins for sale
Unwilling Numismatist replied to Andrew W's topic in Items For Sale
I've bought from woos, not bad to be honest for price vs what you get. Unfortunately the south coast is a bit of a drive and I don't holiday that way. Was kinda hoping my daughter would go to exeter uni for an excuse but thats not happening either (in favour of reading). Apparently that's fairly near a decent coin auction though- 1 reply
