Best Decimal Coins to collect - thanks, Chris
Unwilling Numismatist replied to HeavyT's topic in Decimal Coins
Possibly because no-one actually looked at them, it's certainly not high on my mental list when I get change these days (although it should be I guess). -

Tiny Bronze coin found- possibly Celtic?
Unwilling Numismatist replied to n_jones's topic in Ancient Coins
Not entirely convinced it's a coin, it could well be a partial strap-end. -

Apologies for the thread hijack @HeavyT. The currency release featured the Jody Clark Portrait with the "fifty pence" inscription. At least some of the BU packs feature the portrait by Ian Rank-Broadley without the inscription. The silver Proofs (some of?) have a portrait by Jody Clark also without an enscription. This particular coin comes in at least 3 varieties, but the royal mint seem reluctant to release mintage figures for each variety, only stating that there was amintage of this commemorative coin. -

The silver proof and the circulation ones both have "Fifty pence" on the obvserse, some of the packs don't. -

No mention of the largely un-acclaimed no denomination 50p? I'm sure when the dailiy rags realise and report it, there will be more interest.... Battle of britain 50p - ONLY the one in the royal mint pack ( and as far as I understand, not every pack). Currently around £20 but watch this space I guess -
The pennies look ok (read that as genuine) .... but otherwise it looks like something a 5 year old made in playschool!

Has the forum seized up??
Unwilling Numismatist replied to Peckris's topic in Forum technical help and support
the images shouldn't really affect it, database and bad indexes might, but tracking data and sites can be a pain in the a*** when you wait for those. While it's been slow, I haven't seen anything in my browser to give clear indications why, so it's server-side rather than client, but exactly what.. no idea. Happy to lend my services if requested though. Kev -

I think I want to start the it's a real one club. They just wear a bit and the design appears to flatten out when worn. exhibit B: my 1845 with as similar wear pattern as possible to your image.

Now triathlon - harder to get than the "rare" ones. Basketball, I haven't seen that one packaged very often at all and am still (without paying daft cash) looking for one.

Gold proofs
Unwilling Numismatist replied to jasonsewell's topic in British Coin Related Discussions & Enquiries
I couldn't find many examples of the 3d but I'm still new to finding exactly where to look, 15k would suprise me (cheap at that price) from my limited knowledge of gold - mostly because I can't afford it so I try not to cause myself pain by looking -
The 1897 is beautiful! I'd ask for dibs on the next sale but fear it might break me for a couple of months!
