Just noticed on my coin on the obverse legend, the second two number ones in William III have no top cross bar is this normal, they look like they have been chiselled off.
-
I was wondering if some one like yourself would need to see the coin. Do you register the coin with anyone?
-
Thanks Rob. Is it worth getting it checked out.
-
lol scrap bag I think the bumps could be teeth marks.
-
Half-Guinea. I think this one is 1698 Spink 3468 but no picture of the bust in my book so not sure. Laur. bust r.R. Crowned cruciform shields, scepters in angles with late harp. The coin has two strange bumps directly opposite each other. What grade would this coin be? Thanks for any help.

Its 1817 I can see the date. its definitely a George III Shilling 1817.
-
The big one really is a George III sixpence, any ideas on the inscription meaning? I've put a sixpence next to it just for comparison of size. Not sure if its a love token or a Georgian game of some kind as its been inscribed. I have no idea how someone squashed this but you can still see the inscriptions around the coin.

And on this one you can see MAL . Y PENCE.

Are Victoria pennies worth checking for being rare in this condition? Thanks for any help.
-
I took a look at your site, your coins are a nice dark copper colour. Coins out of the soil always come out green, would they be acceptable to a collector?
-
Thanks for the info. I always thought coppers as no good for collecting in this condition.. Over the years I have had hundreds maybe thousands out of the fields, going to start taking a safer container with me as some of the Vicky pennies come out in lovely condition but end up falling apart in my finds pouch.
