    POST bandits

My wife constantly complains how everything is monetised now, and how there are no staff running a business any more- we do their job for them, and put up with this sort of crap....

    Cowell Coins

I had an email from the idiot, and he suggested that I only posted this because I have too much time on my hands. The uninformed twat doesn't realise that no-one on the forum has time to waste being ripped off....typical unprofessional seller- everyone's a bloody expert nowadays, when actually real experts are thin on the ground. And on this forum.

    Cowell Coins

    Couldn't- it timed out, annoyingly...
  4. err...yeah...but that doesn't work. Searching for "1863 freeman 47" doesn't work either. Clicking on 'see more items' reveals his current sales, but then clicking 'completed' doesn't show this 1863 penny. It's just vanished, unless, ;like Mike, you have a direct link...very odd...
  5. Hmm...if you search for that coin on ebay, it doesn't come up- only Mike's link works...strange....
  6. The world is full of people who have no useful skills. They are, however, very good at 'having opinions' so they are noticed, but only when saying things that are controversial or simply untrue. People then spend time trying to win logical arguments with them, giving them the oxygen of publicity they need. So, the best policy is to ignore them.
  7. All those is 'whatever' fake / not fake arguments bore me stupid now. However, if I wanted to control my population would get rid of cash.
  8. From the FT, about the Crimea bridge explosion, funniest paragraph of the week...: "Ukraine has not claimed responsibility for the attack, though officials did post several comments mocking Russia on social media and the Ukrainian post office has issued a commemorative stamp." Fantastic.
  9. Many many years ago, the rich were fat, and the poor were thin. Now it's the other way round. There must have been a point when they were the same size....when?
  10. blakeyboy

    Rich and Poor- sizes...

...but only when parallel with the Earth's axis. I've got a feeling it's somewhere just after WW2 when rationing was still going. It's not the good carbs that get kids fat - it's the processed crap......

    Ebay's Worst Offerings

This is now surreal. I've had to get used to the prices of certain audio gear going through the roof, as in a mixing desk being £400k etc, you can understand it to some extent, but this mad coin frenzy makes no sense, and will crash horribly, surely...............

    1866 Penny narrow high 6

No- my mistake- I confused my strikings up- the jumbled 'triple' was an 1888 in Michael's book...
  13. blakeyboy

    1866 Penny narrow high 6

Is that second six one of the three on Tony Crocker's triple struck one?
  14. ...and asked for odds on: the Pound going down to 1.04, Liz Truss being in No.10, and Russia invading Ukraine, what odds would you have been offered??
  15. I'm going Pound, 50:1, Liz Truss 1000:1 Russia invading 100:1
  16. blakeyboy

I'm sure that mark wasn't there before, syndrome

Is a slab not sealed, and if it is, do they not flush the humidity out with dry air/gas when sealing it?
  17. blakeyboy

    Little coins big prices

Sssshhhhhh!!!!!!....I haven't gone public yet......you'll scare off my other investors.........
  18. blakeyboy

    Blank for a Brass Threepence?

Hmm..I wold get some vernier callipers on that, and if the diameter happens to be a standard imperial size, then that's been cut from a bar.
  19. For many years, the Chinese restaurant on the corner of Tavistock Street in Bletchley had a sign that read: 'All you can eat....from £15' I never got my head round it....it's wonderful....:-)
  20. Watch out for these people....not only have they ripped me off, but have continued with the listing after being warned about their use of pictures. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/334514858278?hash=item4de2a3a926:g:WA8AAOSwURZi4TLf&amdata=enc%3AAQAHAAAA4AHQw0uXUq%2BDjvfI0LxL6GsvSSuBWvqbYa1HXdWAd%2BuACjompC76dnrSCIFAQVVHA2Cyi%2FOsH4WEaKuSSbs3EgyPgeZn758iToTl%2FPtESRXbUDTnszObknrIzQ1EXKcD4ViYctc684DzWGrT4EIUNFlF%2F97kp25q5sw8DbZi1ldsOiezBTdTyKmdvoyniwgoaFQdy5nMBOVbenj0mONHmlUgGKN8OlQ03VcuExBzvWmHgVbjRWf4%2Fq0JuqvQ%2F7Ufnr0klZ0F1bJTBksP3W7gIr%2Ba%2BwPmtFYr6ohO3UMCLuge|tkp%3ABk9SR8DG6YTfYA Here is one of their pictures. Notice the coin on the third row, second from the left- a clear F169. I bought the pile of 1909's..... 'as pictured', remember....and that coin wasn't there.....grrrr.... No refund, just silence. Trading standards very interested, but what a waste of my time just to get my money back, and these twats are still suckering people in.....
  21. Legally speaking, was it an open and shut case?
  22. No- silence- I think they are hiding behind the 'buyer pays for returns', but this doesn't apply since the transaction was a private one. I don't see why I should pay anything, after being ripped off...

1819 crown A before DECUS edge lettering

Silver does work harden, so a finished coin could stamp a blank quite well once.....
