  1. I have one, grown from seeds I collected in the mountains between Portugal and Spain in 1986- still going strong in a pot. They won't flower in a pot usually, and only then on last year's growth, so pruning them to get them into a greenhouse every year pretty well ensures that I won't see flowers. i haven't pruned it this year, since it's going into an over- wintering enclosure that has more height to it, but I'm not crossing my fingers! A famously 'messy' tree- don't plant one by a path or you will be sweeping forever...:)
  2. Thanks to ozjohn's seeds, I have two about 6" tall. One will be in the greenhouse now until spring, the other in my recently built over-wintering canopy. i figure too high a humidity when cold is what they don't like, like most 'tropical' stuff...
  3. Just got this- cheap and no real excitement, until I looked closer in. I'm crap on 1860's, but this appears to have the dots on the rose leaves like Gouby D, but the colon dots after D:G: to a gap, and D of F:D to a tooth, like Gouby E... The both sides are littered with broken letters too......any views? I'm trying to see if it needs to go in the collection or not and I'm stumped....
  4. The more I see of him, the more he impresses me with his ability to think up the most bizarre things at the drop of a hat.

    Ebay's Worst Offerings

He's been 'informed' about about that coin by loads of people!
  8. That is 'Bizarre Happening of the Week' What a head scratcher....looks like it happened in France or Quebec... My update pack felt like some paper in a pile - what would that 'feel' make someone think that it was valuable?

Party Seven, anyone? Eurghhhh. Only weak Springfield was passable as a 'Summer Gulper'. Bloody dimple glasses, ghastly beer, horrible brown pubs. Don't miss 'em one bit. Bathams still only have 19 outlets or thereabouts. The waiting list is probably 30 years. They don't want to get bigger and have the entire company tax structure change, so the beer suffers. The bottled is good, but the draught in a pub is extraordinary. My wife likes good beer, and as a treat on our way home from the midlands I stopped at the Plough in Shenstone, so she could have her first Bathams. It did her head in. She could not believe it.....

Ah- left the area in 1986- no work in town- I'm in Milton Keynes now... I was on the last BR train on the SVR line in 1962.....Erica and I decided to go shopping in Bridgnorth, which is always fun, but we went on the SVR- what a wonderful day out. Everyone should do it. They even had Bathams Beer on the train!!!! Best beer in the Midlands.

Here's me, a Kidderminster lad, and I didn't spot the carpet connection...I'm slipping....hopefully the £700 an optician got out of us this morning will give me Superman vision, and maybe better comedy insight skills!

It's been reported this week that his tax return shows $70k to his hair stylists... I always assumed, looking at him, that Pratt and Whitney had done it......

I'm waiting for my update pack. The email from Michael says it's roughly 43 double sided pages, replacing pages 33 to 94, plus other bits and bobs.

Agreed. I had the ultimate insult from BT last week. I send emails to me, putting what I want to remember in the heading only. BT put my email to me not 'Junk'.....my wife thought it was funny....
  19. Sad but true.... is the pig the leader of the Free World then?
  20. When it gets to 200Kg, and you're not going to put that in the loft, and you need the money, it's difficult not to weigh it all in....
  21. Ha! No- they see old pennies and know what they are. I'm not the only guy who brings them uk bronze coinage at that yard, apparently.
  22. I have an EMR account for cable and alloys, and I get 'Heavy Copper' without asking each time I weigh in currency bronze....
