    Question for Chris

Thank you Declan. That's very helpful. I hope you're talking about the books and not the 1959S shillings, Declan! Both, of course! For us semi-autistic completists, Dave's books created a whole range of new gaps that just HAD to be filled...

As I told my son when he was your age, as long as you can roll a fag and rack up a pool table, everything else will fall into place..

    Question for Chris

And what's more, they're bloody good. Outshine Davies and Freeman in terms of clarity of photos, and there's even a good few varieties in there not mentioned by either. 1959 1/- Sc, for instance - Groom Type 1 and Groom Type 2. They're both must-haves, Peterkin!
  6. Perhaps also certain sellers may not want people to see how much (or how little!) they'd bought a coin for, that they are now selling. I buy and sell on the same account, I might add, and my listings aren't private!

i'm also allergic too beer. Steak is lovely because it's meat and we are omnivores, people thought the earth was flat because land was flat (unless it was a hill). When boats left the horizon,it looked like they had fallen off. Galileo belived the earth was round. He also discovered 4 of Jupiter's moon.Ganymede (bigger than pluto and mercury), Io (Very Volcanic), Callisto (Heavily scarred by craters, believed to be the most cratered) and Europa (Icy planet). Europa was in greek mythology. Christ you sound just like I did at that age...and I turned out alright
  8. I know! Even if you'd got yourself an electric polisher, and you thought you'd try it on a coin, you'd try it on a 1967 halfcrown, not a 1746! If they even had a 1746 that more or less confirms that it was a coinie that did it. I don't understand it at all
  9. Are all ken1carp's coins polished? Or is that one of my unforgiveable assumptions?
  10. David, you are a god amongst us variety hunters and have already achieved immortality...
  11. Very true, '49! I am constantly struggling to find decent stuff on there these days. I like to stock up on commonish (not dirt common) 20th century stuf in high grade and I'm now finding myself forced back into the 40s, 50s and even 60s. Either that or drop my standards on grade, which I can't do. I'd much rather have nice common coins than older duffers.
  12. That's an excellent idea. I did try to do something similar with Google Custom Searches, but it doesn't work exactly like I'd hoped. I wanted to search for a specific coin across a list of dealers websites. It'd be great if someone could do that, and I can't believe I'm the only one who'd like to be able to do it.

    Food!

I eat fast 'cos I'm always in a hurry...
  14. That's good Peck, seeing them next to one another like that. Am I wrong about those 9s, do you think? Is yours a closed 9, Tony, do you think? The two 3s are clearly different. Have you got any other examples of the slight variations you mentioned, Scott?
  15. Bearing in mind that Tony's picture is of quite a worn normal 3, so maybe it shows some damage? Hmmm. Anyone else got one like Tony's?
  16. ...and of course the Open 9 and closed 9 variants of the normal 3 coins. Your Normal 3 is very different to mine, Tony, but the 9s are the same, so no link between the different Normal 3s and the different 9s. Quick survey of Normal 3 pennies required I think...

    Scarce 1964 sixpence

Oooh. Much as I need one of those, I couldn't live with that...
  21. what time? i'll have to wait a few weeks. i wonder if my UNC 1950's Pennywill be popular! []Edit [] If my coins aren't worth anything to collectors, should i clean them and make them shiny? Clean them and make them shiny if you really want to burn in hell for all eternity. Which, let's face it, is a sod of a long time. let's see the penny - then we can work on getting the photo right before going live....
  22. photos as good as you can, closely cropped, correctly aligned, and show both sides. That's what most people get wrong, so do all that, and yours will stand out. Coppers is right, start everything at 99p and choose your time of day wisely and you might be surprised.
  23. with eBay search in such a pickle it's an excellent time to be shopping! Bargains a-plenty. Not such a good time to be trying to flog stuff though...
