I am not sure why he has put it at that price. He told me that he paid £175 for it and told me that I could have it for £210. I don't quite believe he paid £175 for it though, next time I see him I will tell him that just becuase I am young dosen't mean that I am stupid!

If only....... I am getting a bit fed up with many in-experianced collectors and even in some cases dealers who haven't got a clue with what they are talking about. (Not you Chris)!!!!!

Colin Cooke's farthing challenge?
Half Penny Jon replied to mint_mark's topic in British Coin Related Discussions & Enquiries
I have not been looking even though I knew about the prize. To find new varieties you really need a few high grade examples of the years you would like to find a new variety of and I can't do that at the moment....... I suspect Colin has been looking endlessly and if he hasn't found any it will be very hard for anyone else to. -

I have seen dealers sell coins recovered from a battlefields etc. The history is facinating but I would only buy a coin that apealed to me. The history would take second place, I guess that may be the reason why hammered doesn't interest me! -

Are you going by car then Oli because it will be very expensive on most other methods of transport?

I am, along with an estimated 4 billion others! -
So do I but I would much rather prefer attractive copper toning to a bright shiny silver coin which looks more like a sparkling button than a coin.
-
Also, if there is a little dot between the "O" and "N" in "ONE" then it is rare.
-
I don't know if my one is "dirty" as such but my 1931 halfpenny has mixed tones and speckles around the legends and making it very appealing.
