How can I get a rough price idea for this set?
Half Penny Jon replied to Vitamin's topic in Free for all
Thats a good suggestion Chris! Chris would able to market it to its maximum potential if he sold it for you Vitamin. -
How much is this Sovereign worth?

I didn't know that they don't sometimes grade UK coins accurately. Mind you, I have seen a few coins which I was a bit suspicious of because they did seem a little undergraded. -
How can I get a rough price idea for this set?

Gold coins almost always reach their market price. -
I think it was for £3.20! . I wouldn't even buy one because I have about ten at home! I think the only reason it went for so much was because it was slabbed and graded.
-
Exactly, the descriptions are often vague. You can definately tell who are the dealers who are selling on Ebay because of the accurate and lengthy descriptions they give. Also, I saw a 1967 half penny slabbed the other day on Ebay! It was MS64 RED. I guess the owner thought that the coin was worth quite a large amount of money.

I would only get my coins graded if they were really rare or really valuable. Otherwise, it is just too expensive. I don't mind buying slabbed coins though because they give me an accurate valuation. -
It is a recipe for false descriptions. Before anyone lists any sort of coin on Ebay, they should do some thourough research to determine which grade and variety it is.

We don't know that he doesn't have an Ebay account though do we and that he isn't an experianced Ebayer. -

I have seen proof sets for sale at £700+ on Ebay and from dealers. Personally, I would wait until I get a second opinion from someone on this forum which won't take very long I HOPE. When we give you your valuation and you wanted to sell them then I would sell them through Ebay. -

First of all, the coins are all measured in ounces. You need to find the total number of ounces of gold in the set and then multiply that by the price og gold per ounce. Proof sets are usually worth a bit more than the value of the gold. I don't have the value avaliable right now, but someone else on here might? -
Sorry, I am merely stating that there some aspects of enamelled coins that appeal to me, and there are some which don't.
-
Oli's right there are quite a few ones from the 19th century. I fact, the majority that I have seen come from the 19th century.
-
I agree, however, there are people who collect enamelled coins and I respect their interest.
-
I can see that. However, I just cannot see the appeal with them. I guess different people have different interests.

He has not updated the half pennies yet!

I am very pleased that I bought them. They may not be perfect but they are in the grade that I am looking for. My faviorite will be the 1934 one for sure. I was very surprised to see one in such high grade, and at the right price! -
I hate them too! They just seem so ugly to me.

I don't know why the seller has such low 'buy it now prices'. I know that Chris bought a 1925OH BU half penny from him for a very low amount! -
