Birthday Birthday Birthday
Half Penny Jon replied to Emperor Oli's topic in Nothing whatsoever to do with coins area!
Being politically correct annoys me, the way I see it, god gave us a brain so that we could choose what to do with it. Btw thanks everyone for the birthday greetings! It was a great day! Syls right, 16 is a wierd age. To be honest, I have rented an 18 dvd, drunk alcohol, smoked on one occasion, and bought a lottery ticket between the ages of 14 and 15. I haven't driven just yet lol. -

Hiya peeps! Yes Chris I have been on recently but GCSE's have taken up most of my time lol. Yes I will now go and drive a tractor whilst smoking a cigar and having a lottery ticket in my pocket! It's very good to be 16! -
Sorry about that, I havent been on the internet for several days. I've dealt with him several times and could offer him nothing but praise. A pillar of the numismatic community to say the least.

After looking on his forum, I am very sad to announce the death of Colin Cooke whose funeral was held today. I'm not sure about the circumstances surrounding his death but there will be a very definate feeling of sorrow for he was a great man an an expert dealer, he was also a world-renowned farthing expert. From the post on his forum, his death was very premature.

I've found listing my items much easier. However, some people are still listing their items in the wrong categories.

Hi all. Whilst working in my shop, I discovered a fake 1997 £1. It was very obviously fake because almost all of it was a silvery colour with the rest of the coin covered in gold paint. When I got home I discovered that the gold paint was very weak so I removed some but not all of it. I don't know what the metal is, possibly tin? Is this quite a common year for fakes? This is the first one I've ever seen in my 8 months working in my shop so I presume that it is quite rare. Anyhow, I plan to auction it on Ebay in a week or so...

During my travels today, I thought that I might as well take a visit to the coincraft shop whilst I was near the British Museum. I must admit that their prices are not as outrageous for collectable coins such as halfpennies etc. however, I could not help seeing the extortionately priced sets thrust in my face. I also met Richard Lobel...nice guy.

London Travels
Half Penny Jon replied to Half Penny Jon's topic in British Coin Related Discussions & Enquiries
To be honest it was an impulse trip to the shop which I wouldn't have done unless I was right near it. The staff there were very helpful, perhaps too helpful. All I wanted to do was look at their displays which were quite nice. Nothing of high grade or signifacance though, which surprised me. The phoenix is just a load of overpriced toot which is aimed at exploiting the stupid. -
Hobbies, Other Interests

Going out with friends is my main past time! Has anyone seen Hitch or Shaun of the Dead? Great films! I also enjoy playing badminton a lot. I haven't got much time for hobbies at the moment though due to GCSE's. -

Chavs!
Half Penny Jon replied to big jar of wasps's topic in Nothing whatsoever to do with coins area!
Essex is chav central...I thankfully, am not a chav and get quite offended when referred to as one. My home town is littered with chavs sitting around not having anything to do on a saturday GET A JOB, they are so lazy. -

Agreed, it certainly doesn't resemble a clear overdate or even a messy one! -

I like the scan of my old 1826 halfpenny Chris! Very reasonably priced too! I remember that 1806 proof halfpenny from the fair in november, and take it from me people, it is a PR66/67 rainbow stunner! -
