Rear coins ay...well, i say that he can stick them up his own rear
  3. Not many political figures do listen to the majority...sometimes it costs lives when a political figure doesnt take facts seriously (GWB ignored threats made against the twin towers)... The public has no say in politics if you ask me...votes, the result of a public vote is what the government or parliament wants it to be...
  4. Yes, that is what i meant. If you remember, FDC was the grade used in Collectors Coins 2004 that was decided to change to BU as FDC was a general term used in grading flawless proofs.
  5. All queen anne farthings (1713 and 1714) are very rare, therefore they are very pricey...it is lovely, and the seller (i think) can be trusted...Anne farthings can sell from £500 (for minor varieties) to £1500 (for major rarities)
  6. FDC would be BU... If you are unsure of grading coins, click here If you are still unsure, post a picture

  13. A while ago, i mentioned about my 1953 farthing that had a toothed border on one side and beaded on the other. Now, checking through my few victorian farthings, i have found that some of them also have this toothed on one side and beaded on the other (eg: 1893 and 1900). My question; is there a reason as to why they were they minted like that?

    The Psychology of Coin Collecting

I also hate football... strange; 5 people in a coin forum, only 4 does not like football!
  15. Sovereign (providing it is in mint condition) = £100 Half Sovereign (providing it is in mint condition): BP = £60 M = £1300 (The BP is the engravers initials (of the london type), and the M is for the Malbourne mint...both of these letters are found in the exergue (where the date is )

    Vintage Coins

To me, going to the Euro would be horrific in terms of a) the british coinage system would be lost, for atleast one-thousand years britain has had its own unique coinage, and c) i simply detest the design of Euro coinage.

    The Psychology of Coin Collecting

There are many different types of collector, from a coins type to a coins grade. A collector can focus on an era (ie: collecting only George II types) and from that a collector can also focus on a coin type from an era (ie: Farthings from Charles II, and Half Crowns from Victoria). The motivation to start collecting can be from anything, with me it was recieving a bag of predecimal coins from my great uncle. It can be from being left some coins all the way to seeing an advert to buy a coin that could come through allong with junk mail in the post. I would say that more satisfaction is achieved in the collecting not the 'having collected', mostly because it is a challenge to collect. But on the whole, collections are never completed (ie: 'the other man's grass is allways greener' ).

    ebay: useful?

thats why i put 'not exactly the best of the best' in brackets

    ebay: useful?

Ebay: Good things, 1. Wide selection of coins from all over the world. 2. Lots of different dealers with experience in coins. Bad things: 1. Most of the coins are 'scrap' (not exactly the best of the best). 2. Profits on Ebay are generally out of the question.

    180 Coins in Newsletter No.8

Im in , i hate the fact that spink only lists the early milled rare varieties as 'extremely rare' rather than obtaining the actual prices...i would be happy to focus on Charles II - Anne farthings, and then maybe even George I - Vicky ...i would also be happy to find out a bit of history ... Sorry to jump in...but yes, love to help

    Middle names

Im not going to reveal my middle name, as i have said before, its my password to this forum...but i can confuse you about it: Its either French or German and was once the last name of my Great Great Aunt (maybe another Great, but i have forgotten). It has the letter Z in the middle of it!
  23. If you dont want it then spend it on something...generally most shop keepers do not know the difference between fakes and the real thng
  24. is it me, or has the picture gotten brighter?...anyway, it is now clear that remanents of dots from the colons can be seen faintly
